  • We made 2 brews!
The first was the simplest, quickest and most cost-effective way to get a brew on. The kit and a bag of dextrose. That's 23 litres of beer fermenting for under $30.00.
The second is a recipe approach where we use a range of premium ingredients.
And of course we bring them both back together for the final taste test.
In this case the recipe brew won out with a score of 7-8 on the Home Brew Republic brew scale but the basics brew came out with 6.5-7.5 and was very much a good brew that was regarded as easy drinking by our friends.
The one thing that we don't mention, which we would be keen to try is adding the Mangrove Jacks Dry Enzyme to this brew, which will further support the intended dry character.
Overall if you like lagers, either approach is unlikely to disappoint.

About to start the pilsner I ordered. Hoping to pick up an old fridge so I can cold crash properly :-)

The cold crashing and the temperature control with the fridge make a massive difference. Let me know if you want any help, happy to share how I put mine together.

Also I've made a couple more of the Pilsener and one of the brews was with the brew enhancer which has come out mint. Looks like you were going to use the brew enhancer with that kit - enjoy.

@@homebrewrepublic1993 Got the pilsner started today, sitting at 22C in the water bath. Still looking for an old fridge but I might just stick it outside to cold crash in the meantime :-)
