How do you tell them apart from right and left? Is it the same??
I use the distal bulge of the maxillary canine to determine left from right….
To tell the left max canine from the right max canine, I first look at the tooth from the facial. Decide which side is the mesial vs distal ( the outline of the crown on the distal has a prominent bulge and is more convex compared to the mesial outline of the crown). With the facial still facing me and my finger holding the now determine mesial, I bring the tooth to an imaginary mouth with the mesial I am holding facing the midline. If I end up with the tooth on the imaginary mouth’s left, it is a left canine. If I end up with the tooth on the imaginary mouths right, it is a right canine.
