I am right there with you on that. I mostly mess with tvs, games and consoles. But these laptop and other videos diagnosis can apply to everything. This wizard is doing it without schematics. Old school the way he learned. And it is sticking with a lot of interested people.
I found you a few days ago and I've been watching all the way through. You don't edit, you work through the problem as it is. I like your style.

You have the guy who picks up a news paper to see who the winner of a rally race was, versus the one who watches the race from start to finish... Who's the fan?
There are plenty of us who watch your journey from start to finish and are rooting for you at at the finish line of each job that you do.

I think there must be a lot of simple minded folk in CZcams land who try random videos for 5-7 minutes then just move on. Ignore these people. I for one love your TV repair videos and watch each one all the way. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thinking and how you diagnose a problem. Please keep up your great work.
I do watch your videos from start to finish to better understand the issue to be fixed. I almost quit trying to learning how fix laptop until I stumbled on your videos. I do really like the fact your repairs doesn't involve schematics(some are very difficult to find). Don't be disheartened by average.
RE: 7 minute viewers-People are used to 7 minute solutions because of television? It has to fit their time frame with no effort or logic needed. To repair electronics you need to THINK, not be spoon fed information because there are to many variables. I have been a technician for over 60 years and grew up with black and white tv's, vacuum tubes and relays. You never stop learning. Keep up the good work and great video's!

Sorin please keep uploading your videos because I noticed that we have just one or two a day now which is not enough for us hobbyist. We are hungry of real life repair without any schematics :).
So according to your last video with the TV off course you should to check the screen picture with the torch before you removed LCD panel but unfortunately you don't have a enough space for this kind of jobs because you have to be very very carefully with the screen and I personally suspect broken screen tab in this case also in most of the TVs you can't short LEDs because backlight is sending feedback to the power supply and will see that something is wrong there. If you don't have LEDs you can use 2.6v zener diode and should be fine.

A few days ago I have to fix Philips 43". The TV started with sound but no picture. I remembered this video :). I cancelled 7 LED from 50.
Now the TV it work perfectly.
I think the 7 minutes is because u need to have a certain level of understanding i mean basic understanding of things. like: what is hot air soldering machine, :) scrue driver etc :) believe me. 80 percent of people who watched youre videos dont have idea. But rest 20 percent realy learned a lot as i did. Thank you very much! I finaly understand how things work.

Nice work. I have samsung 32" TV and i did almost 2 years ago same think with two led strips wit one led dead on each. only on white backgrounds on the movie you can see som litle dark spots. But if you cover soldered spot with white tape the dark spot almost disapear. I did this with my friend´s LG TV.

Thanks to you, I have just fixed my 40" Samsung TV. One of the 3 led strips was not turning on. Resulted in blown fuse at the led strip. Installed a "calibrated" :P fuse and worked flawlessly. Thank you very much for your videos :)

A few tips 1) use masking tape in two corners to hold sheets in the right order, and mark with a T at the top so you know which way they go..
2) make sure the screen lays flat in each corner i have cracked a screen before as it was flat in one corner..
3) get an LED TESTER you can test 1 led or a whole string
4) when repaired GO TO MENU / PICTURE AND TURN BACKLIGHT TO MEDIUM OR 50% depending on setup of menu, this makes the leds last longer
BY LED Tester do you mean backlight tester
5. *Never* unplug/connect ribbons while TV is ON.

I sit through every video I watch start to finish. I like the way you teach. Even though there is a little language barrier. I Still understand you perfectly. I think the best ones are 1 hour or more. I'm sitting through it. So many videos like these online. But none of them I have seen come close to explaining what they are doing. And the way you do your videos. Is like I'm talking with you. It is great. I have not caught a live one yet. And honestly it doesn't matter. I'm still watching it.
If those negative comment people are so expert. Then why are they watching your video? Because they are full of shit.

I have actually had experience with some tvs. And I'm not pro at all. Quick checks to see if main board will power up after power supply is working. Unplug the ribbons to the tcon and sound board if it has separate one. If the board powers up. Try 1 ribbon at a time until the board doesn't come on. If it comes on nd no picture. Unplug all ribbons from t con to y bus. Try 1 at a time to see if you get a picture. When you find the one stopping the picture. Disconnect between the y bus. Then you find it will be the screen. By that time it is no good. I scrap it for spare parts.
They loose your humor sense and what its more important... your knowledge. Thank you for sharing it with us both
Good video. One of the most common problems with newer TVs in my experience are blown LEDs in the backlight, probably 75% of the time. Cheap TVs have them all wired in series so if one blows, they all shut off. I tell people if you buy a cheap new TV, make sure to turn the backlight output down as much as you can deal with. You'll save your backlight!

This video is great.. I have a problem with my led tv that the backlight doesnt work... I didnt changed the led light but i only shorted it like this video and it fixed.. It didnt show a lines on screen

I watch many of them over and over again.
I have repaired a lot of TVs. When I see one that does not have a backlight, I check if the LED/LCD itself has a picture. You can do this by shining a bright light from the top or bottom of the LED/LCD panel, to see if it works. I usually do it on the top, before I take anything apart. Also, the bottom ribbon cables that connect to the screen have probably got loose. czcams.com/video/LysMj2Tcp4M/video.html. This may help. I really enjoy your content. Very educational. A little tip I do for tv,s is use some tape and Mark it for top side so you know which is top and which is bottom love all your vids keep up all the good work it might have had loose wire in connectors may be a loose solder point
I always watch your video fully. I only skip when you are unscrewing something or being on the phone or had the Mike muted, I don't wanna miss any part because your lessons are not even thought in some universities.
I make 2 hours to look this video. Sometimes three. Because I look it twice, sometimes thrice. It take time, but better than watching tv.

I myself enjoy watching your videos from start to end but sometimes when you talk in the phone or deal with customers I do 1.25x or 1.5x speed to save my time, and in some rare occasions when you actually find the fault and start reassembling I skip these parts too ( I say rarely) because you almost always keep explaining the fault and the fix you did to the end. so one thing I did is that I stopped watching other channels (for now) because I want to SEE what you SEE, I begin to analyse and diagnose the way you do, I try to make my self in your (shoes) and that realy helps, I can tell you I feel i am already in the next level and I did fix things I didn't before but I am still learning from you and for this I say THANK YOU SORIN!!!

You can do a flashlight test put the tv on press menu and use a flashlight in front of the screen at different angles if you see a shadow it is your backlights that are at fault

Do you know the flashlight trick when you have no screen? You look at the front with a flashlight near of the screen and if you see the image with the flashlight, than it's the led that is dead. Just by looking and knowing you, i knew you would short the diode lol. I would have done the same thing. Good money.

Yes it is 100%it the LED screen problems.The micro LBS cable fibers bonding connections to those circuits boards issues to the LBS cables to the LED light admitting lighting out issues.The LBS cable connection to the LED screen digitizers circuits boards problems led to it LED screen pixels freezes and are not stabilizing and loses glues cohesion and stability of the lightings of the picture to the LED tv screen.

I must admit, I do FF through the disassembly some times. I enjoy listening to you while your taking the devices apart, but I already know how to disassemble laptops so I don't learn anything by watching these bits. I some times skip through a video as well to see if it's something I'm interested in. For example if it's just a power jack fix, I probably wont bother. But if it's a motherboard fix, I'll download it and watch it on my big screen.
