I made roti keramat for the first time, my favourite Malay Kuih

  • What to do during a rainy day on the East Coast? We makan lah.
    We were invited by Naim, a subscriber of our channel, to go to his village, Kampung Padang Kemunting.
    We went to this Auntie's house to make roti keramat as the family make it very often for their breakfast and lunch and are Naim's neighbours we were invited to go to their house and join them.
    We were also supposed to see how gasing (tops) works, we saw before gasing terbang (flying tops) but this one is different, it doesn't fly. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us and we only saw a small indoor demonstration, for us to be able to see the gasing it would have had to be done outdoors on flat ground so the rain didn't allow that to happen but we still had a lot of fun seeing and being a little bit involved on how to make roti keramat and see how the gasing works.
    After that we headed for lunch at the Kedai Makan Belagoangin to try a few different dishes where they have their own specialities like the young banana dish that we had never tried or seen before, it was delicious by the way, a must try we say.
    We hope you enjoyed this spontaneous vlog where we made more friends and will have this video to remember these moments forever.

    • @keon79
      @keon79 Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah that's what I meant. Most of our Kuih are made to satisfy the tongue, stomach & eyes.
      But kuih like keramat, cucur kodok, cucur bawang, are supposed to be a quick-evening-or-morning-bite-snacks that looks were not the main focus
      Was amazed you guys dig into Kuih keramat very much despite being "not so inviting at first sight"... Hehe

    Belagoangin is actually two words, belago and angin. Belago is “berlanggar” in standard Malay or a clash of two items, and “angin” is wind. When combine, belagoangin can means two different wind forces or it could also means that the owner has a different mindset from everybody else (clash of thought) or it could also be belagoangin because your head swirls in making choice from the many delicious dishes available at the kedai makan 😀
