I love this idea, sliding glass doors right off the house into the barn, it's a really sweet way to stay close to your giant dogs. I love it.

I know folks who have a doggy door. But that was very thoughtful to install a HORSEY door. Hermie would appreciate it if you would also turn the TV to face their door. And can you find reruns of Mister Ed (the talking horse from the 1960's)?

@@Noricavus It was my favorite too! They used to have reruns on at 6AM here. Then they took it off. I was so disappointed. So my Mom bought me the whole series on DVD for Christmas one year:)
I didn't have horses to comfort me through my two cancer journeys but I did have kitties. Some days all I could do was lie back in the recliner to sleep. Without fail, I woke up with all four of my babies lying between my knees, around my head, across my belly and cradled in one elbow with whiskers tickling my neck. Whatever the species, they know when we're hurting and will always provide love and comfort. I pray you will come out on the other side of this disease. â€

Horses are also very intuitive, and know when you aren't feeling right, either physically or emotionally.
My sister had a horse, a rescue who just loved Sis, who happened to be pregnant. He would rub on her belly so gently, and lay his head on her shoulder. It was beautiful.
Sis had a severe medical emergency, and they ended up doing a C-section, hoping to "save her or the baby" but, didn't know what would happen. When they called our mother, who lived 5 hours away, she said save them both, and was on her way. Imagine her surprise when, after getting there in record time, the staff told her that Sis made it through (although she coded twice), but the babies were fine.... Yeah, plural... BABIES. Sis had twins boys. They were 6 weeks premature, but they were here! And they all pulled through and, eventually, went home.
One day, after Sis had recuperated a while, she went back to the stables to introduce everyone. She figured the horse would smell her on the boys, and love them as much as he had loved her. She had them in a carriage, just out of reach, and opened the top half of the stall door. The horse saw the carriage and stretched his neck to get a look. Sis said he huffed a couple of times, but didn't seem impressed. She had been standing to the side, talking calmly and, finally decided she could approach him. Instead of nuzzles, he tried to take a bite out of her! And then, made a lunge for the boys!
To this day, we don't know if he was mad that she had gone away for some months, or she smelled different now that she wasn't pregnant, or pure jealousy over the two "strangers" she had brought. Sis couldn't take any chances, and sold him to a friend. The friend said that he was the calmest, most sweet natured horse she had ever had. So, what got him riled that day?

I rented a guest house on a small ranch which had a door in the bathroom that led directly outside to a coral. One time I mustâve left the door slightly ajar and the horse made its way into my tiny bathroom. I wasnât home but later I found the bathroom was kind of trashed and there was a little hay in the toilet, ha ha.. I realized the culprit was Dandy, the horse, and heâd drunk a little toilet water.
From the point on Dandy ALWAYS tried to jiggle the door open and sometimes when someone stopped by at night and used my bathroom Iâd hear a blood-curdling cry because my guest would see the bathroom doorknob moving and they thought it was a pervert trying to get in.
Those horses know that YOU treat them like a TRUE part of their FAMILY â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€â€
this gives a new meaning to âhorseplayâ đđđđ
He and the others obviously love you because horses are smart and picky with who they get close to!

Also for anyone curious, the main reason why most people lock the horses away in stalls at night is for the horses safety and peace of mind for the humans. Plus horses definitely create a lot of chaos when theyâre comfortable with their environment and you wouldnât find out about it until 8+ hours later đ

I love how they love her and the return she extends to them. Perfect example of kindred spirits and so tender and gentle. The exchange is truly a sight to see. So refreshing and heartwarming to say the least. I don't think humans can reach this level of connection. Maybe can get close and that being rare. Life tends to distract too much. These lives are melded and forever. How beautiful!

You will never know the full extent of what it means to be human until you form a close bond with a creature from another species. Without the convenience of language we figure out ways to portray, as well as understand emotions, through action and behaviour. We learn to communicate feelings that no words can describe. This is when we level up and take those lessons learned and go communicate love, kindness and compassion to other humans without the need for ever using words.
