  • Want more legroom? The much improved Grand Highlander fits the bill for the Larger SUV segment. Much larger with the Grand Highlander having more cargo space.
    The 2024 Grand Highlander is a new addition to Toyota's lineup, and it's noticeably larger than the standard Highlander. Key differences include:
    Size: The Grand Highlander is taller, wider, and has a longer wheelbase, offering more presence on the road.
    Storage: With over 13 cubic feet more storage space, the Grand Highlander provides more room for cargo.
    Third-Row Seating: The Grand Highlander has more accessible and comfortable third-row seating, particularly for larger individuals, compared to the cramped space in the standard Highlander.
    Engine: The Grand Highlander features a V6 with 295 horsepower, slightly more robust than the regular Highlander.
    Overall, the Grand Highlander appears to be a more spacious and powerful option, suitable for those in need of extra room and presence.
    We review the difference between the Highlander vs the Grand Highlander. Is it better?

      I’m sure it’s more comfortable compared to a lower trim Highlander, but still not as comfortable as the Grand Highlander. As I’ve said, the seat position just seems odd in the Highlander as if they placed it too close to the center console.

    I am considering the 2023 Highlander Hybrid and the Grand Highlander, and am concerned about the driver seat comfort and leg width room. You mentioned in the Highlander you found your right knee bumping into the center console and that your left elbow couldn't rest against the door. How does it compare to the GH, do you find that you could rest your left elbow on the driver's side door, and do you find that your right knee keeps bumping into the center console? I'm 5'11" with legs probably on the wider side. In comparison I sat in a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid and my right knee was jammed up against the center console with no room to move, very uncomfortable and a deal breaker. Your thoughts appreciated, thanks.

    • @MOHAWKAUTO
      @MOHAWKAUTO  Před 7 měsíci +1

      The Highlander seems like the entire seat is place too close to the center console. This causes my leg to feel too close the the center console and my arm to be too far from the door. The Grand Highlander seems to have corrected and the ergonomics are much more comfortable for my legs and arms. My arm can rest on the door arm rest as you’d expect and my legs are a more comfortable distance from the center console.

    Thanks for making this video. I checked out the Grand Highlander last week, and at 6' 1", when I set the driver's seat to be comfortable for me, I had virtually *no* legroom sitting in the 2nd row behind myself. And at 6' 6", I would think you really had to compromise your driving position to allow room for you to fit behind yourself. Can you talk about that at all?

    • @MOHAWKAUTO
      @MOHAWKAUTO  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Absolutely! I’m 6’4” with longer legs typically requiring 36” inseam pants. I was able to adjust the driver seat to my liking and sit behind myself without too much issue in the Grand Highlander. The Highlander was tighter, but not terrible. I do prefer to sit closer to the wheel than other people my height. I normally put my arm straight out and adjust until my wrist is at the top of the wheel with a very slight break in my elbow. It’s something I learned from tactical driving training and it’s stuck ever since.

    Clearly, this is a anti-highlander pro grand highlander video. Anyone 6 foot 4, cannot sit in the third row of any vehicle. And the 23 highlander platinum edition is total luxury! Not everyone needs a large SUV, that was not taken into consideration. Finally, the reviewer might want to do some research that Toyotas are extremely, extremely reliable vehicles.

    • @MOHAWKAUTO
      @MOHAWKAUTO  Před 9 měsíci +8

      I can sit in the third row of many SUVs, including the Grand Highlander. The third row of the Highlander is laughable for anyone larger than a small child. Even my kids seemed to be cramped in the third row without the second row being moved forward. I think the Highlander is not a good choice if you plan on using the third row on a constant basis. I also don’t recall saying anything about Toyotas being unreliable, so I’m not sure where that comment coming from. I understand that some people may feel that the Highlander is perfect, and that’s awesome. I still feel that if I were buying new, and I wanted the best value, the Grand Highlander is the much better choice.

      @@MOHAWKAUTO I want to say this was meant as constructive criticism. Nothing more. I’m 67 years old and hand out life advice from being in professional career and managing employees and just trying to help others. Best of luck!

      @@siamesepleaseme7468 No worries! I take no offense to the criticism and I understand the haircut may not be for everyone. I've managed for many companies and I learned a lot from getting my 2 business related bachelor's degrees. While I enjoy having a mohawk for personal reasons, it has the added benefit of product differentiation. 🙂

      @@Maxwell1989 I don’t want to give too much away, but there will be a more in depth review of the Grand Highlander. Would it be helpful to highlight key differences between trims?

    I dont get it, why they made grand highlander if they have 4Runner?

      The Grand Highlander doesn’t have much to do with the 4Runner. It’s meant to be a larger and more spacious Highlander, which it is and I feel that it’s the better option of the two.

      It is exactly what I thought just a larger RAV4 I would get one if I had the money for all cash. I use to have a RAV4 and it was nice.

      Exactly! That’s why I like to provide a comparison between the two. Was there something I missed that you would have liked to have covered or covered in more detail?
