American living in Europe here. It's not really the collective mind because that is saying everyone agrees. And 51% of Americans say that gun ownership increases violence, 58% support stricter legislation on gun access, and 61% say it's too easy to obtain a gun. And nearly 30% percent of Americans support a total ban. So no, collectively we have not lost our minds. Unfortunately gerrymandering of districts makes it impossible to elect candidates that do not toe the republican party line even when there are states that would be half democrat if the districts were properly drawn.

2. Yes, provided there’s a mechanism for a free or reduced fee for poor and seniors. Since we are a nation that rebelled against the idea of poll taxes or that the ability to vote not be inhibited b/c you can’t afford ID.

In Austin, Texas, there's a small corner shopping center with a gun store, a liquor store, and a bank. So, you go here to get loaded, get loaded, and get loaded.

Ignoring so many other issues, but hasn't this been tried before, not with bullets I think but other high value items, and every other time its failed within a year or maybe two. Red Box was probably the most successful large scale business and the just went kaput. I wish i could feel sorry for anyone who invested in this product but i really don't.

I looked into this. It's not like your soda machine, it requires a valid ID(usually driver's license), compares it to your face via a camera on the machine and if it's found to match close enough (wearing sunglasses or a hat can mess it up) it will allow you to purchase ammunition.
Otherwise it's a big safe with a bunch of different ammunition and it's not easy to open at all and has many an alarm even if you just bump into too hard.
So they aren't just giving away ammo, it does require some verification of identity and it tracks how much and how often you buy.

I mean the problem is that it violates privacy in all the wrong ways (taking identification, biometrics, and recording every detail of every transaction) without any guarantee as to how the data will be used, while simultaneously offering *no protection* since now anyone can buy for anyone else without any oversight.
Walmart cashier here, I can deny sales because the ID doesn't match the face.

Okay once at Walmart picked 2 pairs of lace panties, hubby had to get bullets so he went to the (now gone) gun section in our Walmart. The guy refused to handle the panties so only rang one up. My fav unintentional buy 3 things at Walmart to mess with cashier😂. Buying bullets from a vending machine is insane!!!

@@EnergeticEmpatheticExhausted it takes less time to go to any number of stores to buy ammo that is sitting on the shelf. This ammo dispenser actually is harder to get the ammo, and I’m sure it is also more expensive too. So it is actually not making it easier to get ammunition.
