He also voices Fiddlesticks from League of Legends. Goff is a very talented voice actor.

It’s not weird, imo- I’ve always been drawn to characters with talented VAs, and Goff puts 200% into his roles, so I’m inclined to like the characters he voices.
Kellen’s talent as a VA is astronomical. the way he can take these otherwise visually non-threatening characters and turn them into the most unnerving and sadistic sounding character possible is fucking insane. he’s such a talented dude, i can’t imagine Sun, Moon, and F. Freddy with any other voice. he nails the shrill, metallic, unnatural tones of an animatronic perfectly
I get that it probably wouldn’t fit or make sense, but I wish they could’ve used a voice for a direct featured character like FF that’s similar to his work in League of Legends as fiddlesticks because that’s awesome in a different sense
Not to mention the range he has with voices, like he does Sun and Moon, and then turns around and also nails that wholesome bear dad we all love
He’s a really good voice actor that’s for sure!
I love characters with spooky voices, I find them interesting and entertaining
Dark Box will be voicing Kandyce (My Helluva Boss OC.) He and the original Funtime Freddy (from Sister Location, The Simulator, VR, Help Wanted, Count The Ways, and in Security Breach) DO NOT look the same, but have a different understanding connection with their creepy backstories.
I can confirm his voice is just hit all the right notes. And this is probably why my only favorite security breach characters are sun and moon

Funtime Freddy feels like Freddy going on a Joker arc.
Kellen Goff just nails the character. Funtime Freddy is probably my second favorite character he has voiced, just under Fiddlesticks from LoL.
Same lol I love both characters so much and they wouldn’t be nearly as cool without Kellen’s voicework
He "Bawn Bawn'd" his way right into our hearts.
All in all a good run, though this still feels like another example of wasted potential for Ennard. Imagine the malice of Funtime Freddy being fully explored as part of this hive mind’s psyche - a devil on their shoulder enticing them to hurt others like they have been hurt, or perhaps as a tyrannical entity forcing the others to do his bidding after Baby was exiled. Or, heck, maybe he’s exiled instead and becomes his own kind of monster.
I’ll say this: Fnaf as a franchise is a great idea generator!
I love that idea! Ennard as a whole being a more vocal, and more unstable, enemy would've been great. Unlike Springtrap, whose game had to be spiced up with other characters, Ennard would make sense as something unpredictable and erratic enough to be a lone threat against you. Several different minds in one body, pulling it this way and that, means that with, say, two or three options and a dwindling power supply to seal them, he could backtrack significantly to other routes and strategies and thus give you time to make it through the night - but he could be _fast,_ too, giving you only so much time to respond. Perhaps one of the minds in there wants to cut different systems, and maintenance minigames give him openings to move closer unattended, too. FNaF 3 style gameplay, but perhaps with some other improvements since FNaF 3 is... dubious in gameplay loop.
If I ever plan on making a Fnaf fan game (no idea when I would ever do that because I can’t model or code) I would want to make a game that focused on Ennard as a villain.
First thing I would change, I wouldn’t make it sound like Circus Baby. If they are a mix of 4 characters, then they should have a voice that mixes elements of all of the characters.
Gameplay wise I’m thinking maybe they would start off as a single animatronic, but over the course of the week they would grow desperate and maybe detach parts of themself, that way you are being more overwhelmed with more targets, but would also make them weaker and not as coordinated due to them not being fused.
I don’t know what else I would do if I decided to make this. Let me know if you like this. Thank you.

I'd definitely say Freddy was the star in FNAF 1. He's the only one that takes a while before becoming active in the game, and when he does, he's by the far the most ominous character. He's not really seen on camera, only his glowing eyes being visible in the dark. And when he reaches your office, your attention will be on that for the whole night. 4/20 is pretty much just dealing with him. Plus the power outage sequences with him are easily the most iconic part of the game, and for a good reason.

Yeah but Foxy was the fan favorite. Freddy is yeah incredibly popular as well but honestly I'd say out of the original 4 he's less popular then Foxy and Bonnie

Probably the _freakiest_ thing about him to me, is the fact that in Night 3 when we have to work on him, HandUnit mentions having to pay for physical therapy, which sort of implies that Funtime Freddy might have even put someone in the hospital at least once

He seems like someone who has character and inexhaustible charisma.
Maybe it's thanks to Kallen Goof's voice acting, or it's just that Freddy was lucky that for the first time in many years he really became a small star of the game named after him, even if he was not the plot "driver", I don't care.
He is the ONE that this game needed for a long time, as the main mascot. And I would be happy to see Funtime Freddy in his best role in books or other games ✨😌✨
I think the “Count The Ways” setup fits to how Funtime Freddy seemingly acts. His voice gives me the idea that he’s a very hyper character when he would be around kids to match their hyperactivity.
So maybe the way it switches between the MC’s teenage angst story and their conversations inside him, it’s almost like constant shifting of attention. His attention constantly hopping between different things, never solely focusing on one thing, though loosely tying into each other in one way or another (if I remember right, haven’t read it in a while).

FF is absolutely my favorite FNAF animatronic, like a cheesy serial killer he brings such a fun and unique charm to the table, almost like a witty villain from a comic book. But at the same time, FF manages to be genuinely terrifying and gives off such a *malicious* aura that no other animatronic matches, at least in how they speak to you. Funtime Freddy wants to go absolutely ballistic on someone, and he makes that no secret; the opposite of how Baby pretends and tries to be harmless to fit in. And I think that’s honestly super cool; hes such a neat Freddy he deserves all he got!

Funtime Freddy is so great. The slight stutters in his voice add a lot to it, too - it makes him feel more unstable, like he's deteriorating beneath that shiny shell of solid steel armor, somewhere in that complex cable endoskeleton. Like no matter how many times they put his body back together, his mind, AI, whatever's running this thing will never be wholly there. It's equally possible that his immense enthusiasm strains his voice box, causing the skips as it gets overused - throughout the game he's more likely to speak than anyone else in the facility, after all.
Another thing is that he's, like you mentioned, the everyman of the group. This massive animatronic, who feels a lot bigger than Baby (although Baby is proportioned like her namesake, perhaps adding to that - and the trailers and the like also place her on a lower stage than the others), has everything needed to lure and snatch away kids. One detail most people ignore, since Bon-Bon is normally portrayed as a separate animatronic, is that Bon-Bon being designed like a hand puppet prop means he'll be looking _at_ Freddy a lot of the time, which is why he has a '360 degree tracking' label on his blueprint. Bon-Bon allows him to see all around him without turning his head unnaturally, giving him the ability to covertly monitor the room. Bon-Bon only ever moves when Freddy doesn't, too - so it's hard to say if they're separate. Sure, he goes off on his own when Freddy's seemingly offline in Parts And Service... but Freddy is offline there. He could easily be focusing on maneuvering Bon-Bon, either as a spirit trapped in these machines bent on malicious activity after years of torture, or as a machine who knows no other purpose other than entertaining as a ploy to get close enough to the children to enact his true intent. Bonnet is another outlier, but it's hard to say if she's really meant to work alongside Freddy at all. Her colors match Funtime Foxy better, arguably, and she seems to be her own thing anyways. Never alongside Freddy, other than loosely when _everyone_ is gunning for the Private Room in Custom Night, or I guess if you count her easter egg appearing in place of Bon-Bon - which easily could be her simply enjoying the game Bon-Bon was already playing.
Also, Freddy's design makes him look just... so creepy. He can be the funny, clown-like bear who tells jokes and gets the kids laughing, but he also has that lidless stare in the cameras from the Private Room, and a generally off-putting appearance with a gaping mouth and a permanent smile whether it's open or closed. The bright colors are a lot more off-putting in that environment, too - while the original Freddy may have masked himself in darkness, this one has no qualms about being spotted making his way closer.. or getting ready for his big surprise, or however you may put it. His use in Help Wanted's 'Night Terrors' segment is perfect for this, both in the voice lines and his appearance and actions. For what you said on it... we all know Security Breach was rushed. But Help Wanted seemingly was too, even if not to the same degree. Some of the models show it (Springtrap and Ennard, mainly, but some others _including_ Funtime Freddy's, which has some weird shading and bad polygons), and the fact that certain characters were cut entirely from gameplay (the Bidibabs and Minireenas were planned and have some easter eggs but nothing else, and the gameplay style is linearly expandable endlessly so who _knows_ how many extra games were cut. I'd absolutely love to see HW get expanded with some extra updates once SB is done, but I doubt it will happen. Anyways, I suspect they just didn't have time to test and develop a new gameplay loop for him, but given the whole thing where those rooms are already in Circus Baby's E&R to begin with, it makes sense - only the Funtimes and Nightmares ever appear there, after all. Had there been a Private Room section of games, it likely would've also included the Nightmares making their way into there to some degree. Or at least I'd hope it would.
I, ah, wasn't going to mention The Fourth Closet's take on the character, but you did so I'll have a go at him. Firstly, while he's on the cover of the book, that wasn't exactly Funtime Freddy - it was a character known as 'Blacktime Freddy', who I think you've caught some of my thoughts on the naming scheme of at times elsewhere. His face appeared in place of Ennard's mask (only the front of the plates forward, similarly to Ennard's mask) in SL as another easter egg, but he was neglected in the Custom Night unlike other recolors like, uhh.. Minireenas 2. In any case, he doesn't have a hand puppet nor anything much about him, and I'd say he retains a _little_ of his charm - the mirror maze is sort of a fun concept in the novel, although the graphic adaptations do fuck all for any of the characters so.. y'know. Not the best additions in _those._ He also gets one of the most brutal and effective animatronic deaths in the franchise, I must say. Particularly since I think he actually had to experience all of it. Sure, not as much pain as the kids went through (or I guess maybe some of the Glamrocks, now), but still.
On the flipside, Funtime Freddy in Fazbear Frights's 'Count The Ways' is great! Love that guy. Wouldn't want to get near him, but he's a great guy! Good character design, with elaboration on what made him a bit more special (although it never does mention if he's missing that hand or not, which I'd figure it should had he been but we don't really get a good description of him from the outside to begin with). He's loud, over the top in a sort of clown-like way, and quite malicious and morally dark given everything. It's a good story, not much else to say about it, other than that he's seemingly put on the pounds if he can hold a young adult.

Also, another thing you kinda didn't mention in Funtime Freddy's appeal is the whole Bon-Bon part. I mean, a 2-character dynamic in a single chatacter is always very appealing, with the whole "2 personalities" thing. It also is one of the main things FF has in common with Sun&Moon (which also made those two pretty popular in my opinion)
I mean, I know it's a bit of a stretch, bu do you remember that fan-song made by CK9C about Funtime Freddy, "You Can't Hide"? That most popular part is that conversation bit for a reason.

I remember when Toy Freddy became the least favourite character according to fan survey, beaten by Balloon Boy. Not because he was actively disliked, but simply because nobody cared.
To this day I think being beaten by BB is an insult.
I read the fourth closet and in it Funtime Freddy is literally Yenndo, he is described as having two hands and after being destroyed it is said that he had yellow eyes, this was always so wierd to me

@@LEMMYBOOOOI You say that like the graphic novels paid attention to that detail. They don't. Hell, the Funtime Mangle that is portrayed in TFC isn't even actually made in that - in the novel, it's a terrifying concept (which honestly should've gotten more recognition) with dozens of limbs, uniquely retracting plating and the ability to change from a mass of components to a normal animatronic at will; but in the graphic adaptation it's just either Mangle or Funtime Foxy as they appear in the games, with no scenes showing the transition to explain it. Chances are the graphic novel artist didn't even notice those details and just drew Funtime Freddy as he appears in-game too.
What i find hilarious is that Kellen Goff was on the Hunicast a few times, and did a couple of improv bits as Funtime Freddy with some of the voice actors from the pilot Hazbin Hotel. It's not exactly the same voice because Kellen isn't allowed to do the filter, but it is still extremely funny to essentially hear Funtime Freddy say that he was the cameraman for "Six Ways From Sunday: An Adult Film by Angel Dust." The two best bits are the ones where Alastor and Angel bully Funtime Freddy, and the one where they roleplay Angel meeting Funtime Freddy in a bar. There's also the extremely cursed clip of Funtime Freddy saying "nico nico nii"

Funtime Freddy is like the Pennywise of the franchise. That being said, they should've kept with Ennard. Baby leaves and we still get Scrap/Molten Ennard. MD-PTV's series perfectly shows what Ennard with a hivemind with Ballora, Funtime Freddy and Foxy could look like. As for The Blob, just keep Ennard as the head while The Blob assimilates every animatronic in the franchise.
I agree that Funtime Freddy is one of the most unique animatronics in franchise, but "Freddy never was a threat in the first route of games"? Now that's a hot take. Freddy was the creepiest one of the originals and his mechanic in FNaF 1 was the hardest to figure out(atleast if you didn't watch youtubers playing and even if you did, you can see how they struggled to figure out Freddy's mechanic). He is also the first character with a voice(well kinda, by voice I mean his laugh) AND Toreodere March is directly associated with FNaF beacause of this bear. But I agree, Funtime Freddy IS one of the best ones in franchise(also one of my favs) and I am up for more of his appearences in future games(but not the blob pls it looks like a poor excuse to reuse assets from Help Wanted). Funtime Freddy is my favorite Freddy precisely because of the voice. I saw the voice actor somewhere once and he seemed like a really awesome guy too. Idk whether he also did sun/moon but when I first heard that I did think it was the same voice for a minute. You're definitely right that they have the same manic evil energy. I like to compare it to the joker personally. At least the versions of the joker I was familiar with as a kid

Personally, I never found FF scary. The way he was portrayed and written seemed too goofy to me to make him creepy. Perhaps a little unnerving, but too exaggerated, like a cheap slasher movie killer, to really leave an impact on me, but that’s just personal preference. His portrayal in Fazbear Frights however, was much more interesting, I would say. I did like his personality though, he definitely has that in spades compared to other characters in the franchise, sadly.

I loved your analysis, it makes it clear to me why Funtime Freddy was my favorite FNAF character for a long while. Kellen Goff did such amazing work on his voice!
I must agree with the comments, FNaF 1 Freddy was a popular character. He always remained a ominous force so when he did spring into action slowing, creating nerves to rise and anxiety to sky rocket as he crept closer. The AR series definitely opens up his character showing that he is a respected/respectful Bear, subtly dangerous giving minor quotes you wouldn’t think too highly of, and my favorite part he is old-fashioned and like a teddy bear feels nice and cuddly which contrast greatly with his subtle dangerous side.

You could say that the original Freddy does have a personality, the FNAF AR voice lines for him are great. People sorta ignore this fact due to how bad FNAF AR got, and, well, it was forgotten by the devs too. But his voice there is great. It's intimidating, fits his look. And best of all, the "don't touch Freddy" rule from FNAF 1 is reinforced here, because he says "most people like my hugs". So i'm assuming hugs aren't....well, normal hugs.

If anyone from sister location gets the most hate it would be Ballora like I hear so much hate from the design and also story wise but jokes on them Ballora has more apperiences than Funtime Freddy and foxy with appearing in 3 books, 2 games and most likely returning in the newer games since her voice actress also returned to voice the therapists

Funtime Freddy is probably in the FNAF4 section of VR because of the theory of the Funtimes being the Nightmares without illusion discs

Honestly I may have another request for the future that I'd love to hear your take on, that being Nightmarionne and how not only did UCN seem to canonize him but also portrayed him more like a symbol of death rather than just a bad dream and how Security Breach has those little Nightmarionne plushies around the map. Maybe something about how underutilized Nightmarionne was and how he should have been the canon Halloween animatronic instead of Nightmare BB, symbolizing some kind of harbinger of death in the lore like how Nightmare is theorized to represent death. Alternatively, a whole video on FNaF 4 would be a really good chance to do another salty take like with the Eleanor video considering how badly Scott retconned it in future installments like Sister Location and the Logbook.

What I wanna point out about his design would be the fact that he’s the ONLY character who has ANOTHER layer of face plates under his outer ones.
I dunno why, I just felt like mentioning it since that’s what also made him a bit more unique than the rest

I have a theory I've been trying to push around that the Daycare Attendant is comprised of refurbished parts of the Funtimes/Scraps ((With a list I made of how each key characteristics and mechanics of them is represented in Sun and Moon)) because Fazbear Entertainment is too cheap to make new parts for anything that isn't the main attraction, and that would probably be why they were probably patient zero of the Afton Virus, and that would include refurbishing F.T. Freddy's voicebox and the dual AI mechanic between him and Bon-Bon being split between Sun and Moon ((with Moon taking the Bon-Bon side of "Go back to sleep"))
Essentially, my theory proposes that Sun and Moon are the result of FazEnt picking through the parts they found at the FNAF6 location when building the Pizzaplex, and discovered some parts that didn't get destroyed in the fire, or were at least salvageable and used that to cut corners in making the Daycare Attendant so that all better resources were dumped into the Glamrocks.
Sun and Moon's AI would be unaware of this concept because the memory data was factory reset before booting, but the core programming and Afton and Elizabeth's Remnant would have latched to the remaining pieces that were used.
But, that's just a theory!

Yes, it has 2 different voices when speaking but that's just a joke about it's gender and how it's never been confirmed(also little fan Canon, I think Mangle's gender would've probably varied from location to location. We've got a male one here in Texas but you should see the girl in Wisconsin!)

FT Freddy is such a blast as a character his crazy and rather unnerving voice and mannerisms to the way he mocks you throughout FNAF AR and custom night. He is truly my favorite out of all the Freddies.

I wish Bon Bon was counted as their own character especially since they can act independently from Freddy - plus there's Bonnet who just has no real origin despite being a puppet herself?

Personally, I really like that they turned him to Molten Freddy, it gave him that chance to be as outwardly sinister as he’d wanted. I’m really hoping the Blob is Molten Freddy and he gets voicelines in Ruin.
Meanwhile in Ruin u have a low chance of even SEEING him ;-;
Funtime Freddy is pretty much the focal point of my enjoyment of the series character wise since there really wasn’t much before, or after that which kept my attention in the same way. Sun and Moon were similar but the whole “transforms into spooky evil mirror oooh scary” thing wasn’t nearly as fun to me lol
Funtime Foxy will always be my favourite funtime design (horrific jumpscare, great expansion on Foxy ... gender) but Funtime Freddy still holds a special place in my heart. His voice is fantastic
I find it interesting you decided to look at Fnaf from a popularity perspective when it's usually looked at through a lore perspective. Because from a lore standpoint all these appearances make sense but I guess an argument could be made that character popular had something to do with them. Like choosing FF's head to represent Molten Freddy when Ennard already had a mask/face is an interesting choice that probably was motivated by character popularity or Scott's own interests
In regards to the intro, I'd say FNaF 1 Freddy is the second largest threat, and the biggest long-term. Sure, he's slow to get going - Foxy is the much bigger issue, since he, y'know, rushes you. He drains your power, whether by increasing amount each time he hits that door, or by forcing you into the cameras. And if you don't manage him, then, well... yeah. But if not for the power - say, if it regenerated when not being heavily used - then Freddy is the bigger issue. Sure, Foxy ramps up over time, but Freddy never moves back. He has a set path, he moves often (on 20/20/20/20, he's the biggest threat since some of his mechanics stop working at AI 10, and he only ever goes up to, like, 8 in the normal nights whereas Foxy goes up to 18 at the highest outside of Custom Night, meaning he's _meant_ to be fair-ish at that level). Once he reaches your door, he's just... there. He's not leaving. And, when the power _does_ go out, it's him who gets you.
FNaF 2 didn't really do much for him, but I have to say his eyes not focusing on you really sells the whole possession thing, where they don't always have full control over the eyes and ears. Same reason why Bonnie's ears, despite logically being very expressive during performances (also replacing his eyebrows' expressiveness, most likely), never move. Nice detail that later games forgot, although certain characters may be exempt from it.
Ironically enough, if compared to the core gameplay of other games, Funtime Freddy fills the role of a Foxy. Hidden from most of the gameplay, memorable in his extremely erratic behavior, somewhat unique to the rest of the cast, and so forth. Baby herself is the 'Freddy' of SL, while Ballora and Foxy fill the roles of Bonnie and Chica, respectively, as the first threats who are, while still their own things to worry about, less of an issue than the other two.
IMO, funtime freddy has the most appealing design out of all of them, the hand puppet thing is something weve never seen before. Imo Funtime Foxy is design wise, the most un-appealing, although, he is my 3rd favorite sister location character.

Another connection with Sun/Moon is the "two-faced" motif. For FF, Bon-Bon felt like his "opposite" when they spoke (telling him to "calm down", go back to his stage when he actively sought after the player). Even if the theme wasn't as obvious visually as in Sun/Moon, FF and Bon-Bon still have a little bit of that "two-faced" theme reflected in their personalities

even though they already didn't have many moments in the actual book the graphic novel of the fourth closet did the funtimes dirty imo, especially since it doesn't make sense for funtime foxy to look exactly like mangle
They definitely felt a bit shoehorned in. Too many plots juggled at once.

It’s funny. Funtime Freddy is my very favorite character in the entire FNAF franchise, hands down, but your description of being put in the position of an uncomfortable child is totally true. I never liked animatronics as a kid and would cry when my brothers tried to get me close to the Chuck E. Cheese stage because they all terrified me. Were I a kid at a birthday party at Circus Baby’s Pizza and I ended up even remotely close to FT Freddy, I would probably cry, piss myself and run to hide behind my dad or brothers.
Granted, I’d probably do that with a lot of the animatronics, but FT Freddy in particular would scare the bejesus out of me. Although, come to think of it, Ballora probably wouldn’t have scared me as much, but only because child me wanted desperately to be a ballerina when I grew up. I’d probably end up getting snatched up by the Funtimes because I was tailing Ballora and trying to walk on my toes with my arms over my head and not paying attention to where I was going... Okay, rereading that now. I say that like I don’t still sometimes try to ballerina walk now as an adult-
I can debunk the factoid of him being pay-to-get in FNAF AR, as far as I remember. There WAS a DLC that came out at around the same time with extremely mediocre gameplay and a $20 price tag that was the only way to get a good-looking skin, though. A price for which you could buy many good games.
I always thought the daycare attendants were more parallel to the puppet, but now that I've seen this I get it.
I still think they could fulfill the role of the puppet, particularly moon if he wasn't evil during the game.

When Sister Location first released (2016ish?) Funtime Freddy immediately became my new favorite animatronic and has remained my favorite to this day. Before Sister Location, Foxy was my favorite but that was simply due to the fact that there was NO Funtime Freddy back then 😂
