@@Knightsfrown it started in primary school for me, it included the regular bells too (which made the remaining 7 years in school fun lol) tbh idk if I could survive uni accommodation, I've heard that they go off constantly
In fact, I have a fire bell in my room and I also have a horn in my room which are not hooked up by the way. Surprisingly, sense we got the horn at a garage sale, it works when we tested it, which we did outside. It's not to loud.
MircomFan Thanks - ADD for the win though; ripping it all out and completely redoing it - adding two standalone ancient systems with matching components (Standard Electric, and an ancient Simplex) - have to build a new wall, etc. Will post progress videos as I am able. By the way, here's a disclaimer especially for you based on your username: You will eventually hear me complain loudly about Mircom in future videos, the reasons are many : Mircom panels make me want to punch myself in the face; smoke heads take forever to trip and are damned near impossible to clear without re-tripping, FA-300 panels stack re-trip troubles so high that I actually had one take our entire Central Station receiver out - two hours later it was still communicating them through. Now I have to "unprogram" the dialer in it when I inspect so it doesn't send anything through. Okay, rant over :)
brettman273 No problem! I love seeing more unusual/rare alarms, especially bells (grew up around a lot of single stroke bell systems). Can't wait to see more progress! Yeah, Mircomfan wasn't my first username choice. I wanted to actually be Edwardsfan, but someone already took it so had to make do with what I had!
The strobes were all on; I think I used my phone to record this so it probably didn't catch them. The origial Simplex AVs have relatively weak strobes compared to modern equipment. The newer AVs in the auditorium are probably 2-3 times as bright.

Nest in 2019: are you sure about that?
AWESOME VIDEO!!! Fire alarms are cool and they keep you safe.
Smort
the bells at 0:53 and 1:04 sound like our church bells
We had the horn sounding ones in my elementary school and they used to scare the hell out of me
As someone who suffers from severe anxiety triggered by fire alarms, this may be my worst nightmare
I can imagine that would be unpleasant.
Couldn't you just lean back on the wall to destroy your ears?
