That scene for me, as a gay man who has battled homophobia for three decades, was SIMPLY THE BEST.
I could listen to Dan talking about Schitt's Creek for hours. Everything he says is so profound and you can tell how much he cares about what he is doing with the show.
I’m glad they showed Moria crying. It makes the scene more raw and real. She’s so happy for her baby boy. The cover of the song is amazing.
One small positive of the lockdown, was many many people discovering Schitts creek..including ME.
I’ve never really paid attention to that song until now and it’s been around for years. The lyrics really are beautiful and I’m so glad that Dan picked it and Noah re-arranged it so beautifully. It is now forever on my playlist. Great job guys!!!!
Catherine O'Hara is truly one of the best comic actresses ever. The split second where she puts her hand on David's arm says soooo much. And I love the part before that where she offers to pull the fire alarm for him. It is 100% support and it is exactly the way Moira would do it. I also love when Alexis is singing her song and Moira gives Joselyn a few subtle small kick under the table - you can see it without her needing to say it 'this is bad and it needs to stop but I can't tell her - you do it'.
David's lipsync is both hilarious and touching. That's why it's so brilliant.
I wish I knew Dan Levy personally and had him in my life. So intelligent, interesting, kind, creative, funny, and sexy, having him as a dear friend would truly be a wonderful thing.
David & Patrick falling in love was so beautiful to watch it had me weeping with the gushy love feels. I cried with such happiness for their union & I can't stop replaying it for the beautiful feels. I've been humming Tina Turner ever since. The greatest love story I have ever seen on any series..... it really is simply the best. I WEPT DAMNIT!! Now I utterly adore Daniel & Noah because repeatedly watching that profound connection they developed for one another hits my feels with such delicious warmth. Now when I drink wine I think of those guys every time. Man, they fucking nailed it.
Open Mic and olive branch are the best episodes of any show ever...it was so wonderful! Watched it over and over!
He clearly doesn't know the strength of his moves, his whole body was invested in that dance, the shoulders, the arms, that low kneeling movement, the almost smashyerfacekiss. He's totally unaware of how powerful he is. So marvellous to hear this. Also ... and maybe it's just me, but the style of this video, from the front table, matching tall side table, the close up on his lovely rumpled tie, collar detail, the open neck shirt reveal, his cuff so long out of his sleeve, the jacket rumple unconcernedly? It's adorably dreamy and now. So now! Love, love, love this video.
I love that Noah Reid created his own version of it!
Dan, to say that I love the scene where your character, David gives an “ olive branch” by lip syncing the words to “Simply The Best” would be an understatement. I cried and it gave me the chills knowing that your character was laying himself bare to get back the man he loves. The rawness of that emotion and the beauty of the words was just too much for my emotions to take...Brava!
Just finished watching the Olive Branch episode for the first time, and I'm absolutely bawling my eyes out!! It was the most romantic scene I've ever seen on a tv show or movie. Patrick's serenade was incredibly brilliant, I got choked up and felt so happy for David, but the Olive Branch scene was next level. Thank you to the Levys for making this show!!
You could listen to Dan talk forever. He is so attractive and intelligent and truly nice.
the love moira had and the way she looked at david in that scene like "my boy is loved im proud and happy for him" is soo moving
i just adore Dan so much he seems like the type of guy we all need in our lives
Dan didn't realize I guess, but we all knew the dance and lip sync were outside of David's comfort zone (Dan's as well). That's what made it so emotional and touching. It was David showing Patrick the walls that were broken down when Patrick sang to him and being vulnerable.
David dancing to the song for Patrick is one of the best television moments ever.
The reason both those scenes are so powerful is that they remind us of that part of us that is so deeply in love with someone, and how we're seeking so desperately to show them. My wife and I were in tears for both of those scenes. Dan, the show is simply the best.
