This is the most amazing duet I've ever heard. Sharon's angelic, ethereal voice and Anneke's fuller, but also gorgeous, tone blend with such incredible perfection. The original WT song is amazing, but this duet, along with the orchestral accompaniment, take this to a level that is out of this world. Anneke also exudes charisma effortlessly.

The certainly have very distinct and beautiful voices those two wonderful ladies. And Anneke has over time also become one of my favourite singers. And she has come a long way. I can remember on the first two or three The Gathering albums she often had some trouble with the intonation. But from there she has just gotten better and better.
And to all who has not seen this wonderful and special Within Temptation concert/recording: Go find it now. It's called "Black Symphony". IMDb has this to say: "The gothic rock band "Within Temptation" stages their most ambitious concert to date at Rotterdam's Ahoy Arena in Feb 2008. Dubbed 'Black Symphony', the band performed to 10,000 fans with the 60-piece Metropole Orchestra, a 20-voice classical choir and special guests Keith Caputo (Life Of Agony) and Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering)."

Yes! Finally a great reaction video to two vocalists who crush a duet in different (and clearly distinct) vocal tones. Once they are both singing, there is no separate melody and harmony in a traditional sense, but rather two amazing melodies which harmonize beautifully and at times achieve a seamless vocal crossover. This combination of amazing song-writing, vocal ability and execution is exceptionally rare in a song, rarer still in a reaction video and singular (as far as I have seen) in gifted reaction by an artist like you who appreciates what they've done and translates it so well for us all! Thank you so much!
As a huge fan of Anneke, this song was my introduction to Sharon den Adel and Within Temptation. I really appreciate hearing your perspective, but also can't help but notice that you lead into the video with an admission of your love for Anneke's work... Please react to more Anneke! I would love to hear you react to her early solo stuff, like anything from Pure Air (for example live versions of "The Blower's Daughter" or the "Day After Yesterday" with Danny Cavenaugh and Marike Jager, respectively), or anything she did live with Devin Townsend from By a Thread ("Pixillate," especially) or The Retinal Circus. I'm disappointed this concert is not available on Blu-ray in the US.

I think it should be noted that for 2 or 3 days before this concert Sharon had no voice at all due to laryngitis, it was just on the morning of the concert that she woke up and could talk again. So I think she sounds just a little bit different, perhaps softer, here than she usually does.

Sharon was sick in that show and still makes a big show like black symphony, she is the best

As a Duchi I proud that we such great singers. You have to listen to Sharon den Andel, Simone Simons and the best and most impressive of them Floor Jansen. Symphonic Metal is the new opera and this lady's do a great job to bring it all over the world.
Btw great reaction and please look further on you tube to find more incredible symphonic metal to react.
When you want to look incredible and stunning music look at the Dutch television show Beste Zangers and enjoy.

Might I suggest Anneke and Devin Townsend? With a bit of urgency?

What I heard from the extras on Black Symphony is that Sharon got sick the week of the concert. And I think they changed the keys of the songs so that she wouldn't strain her voice and be able to make it through the whole concert. And if you listen to the studio recording you'll hear this difference. So if this is true, Sharon isn't pushing her voice much. This was a live concert, and was going to be recorded. They spent a lot of money on the hd cameras, sound, Metropole Orchestra, and Padam Choir. Now Sharon had to be sure she could make it through all the songs without losing her voice.

Also, you’re such a music nerd, I love it.

Great reaction and man the Dutch Singing Goddess Club (Floor, Simone, Sharon, Anneke, Charlotte and Dianne) are just for symphonic metal what about the other great vocalists leading other bands (Burning Witches, etc..). I am not sure what is in the Dutch DNA or the water but man they can sure produce some angelic voices. Anneke since the Gathering has been an inspiration to many vocalists including Floor. As for Sharon, well there is no one more daring to mix up her sound and take chances (look at all the great duets and MVs they have done). I got sick and tired of Within Temptation with all the Game of Thrones fan made videos on YT (LOL). Nonetheless, a great band and Sharon, who early on was self taught, is amazing. This concert is just suburb especially with the full symphony backing her up.
