Just watched Anneke’s 1996 live and now this 23 years later and wow! She is still having as much fun as she was having back then, that infectious smile, solid vocals and looking gorgeous as ever... just wow...kinda made me tear up for some reason
I wonder if this is what it means to be successful as an artist, to be living the dream and to be doing what one was born to be.
Its truly inspiring, makes me want to throw caution to the wind and follow my dreams as well :)

My 3 year old just said "Ich mog des lied des is mei FAAAAAAVORITE" "I like this song it's my favorite" (we're german but speak both english and german so sometimes he mixes it which is especially funny when he talks in a south german dialect. I used to sing or hum this song to him when he was a baby so I guess he remembered. He also loves anneke's tattoos, he thinks they're super cool 😀

I'm a big fan of a-ha and Morten often does the same thing, ditto the Neil Hannon from tbe Divine Comedy.
Morten and Sharon, though, are both so cute when they forget and improvise, or sing the wrong verse (a few years ago Morten once sang the verse from the demo by accident instead then course corrected).
I'll forgive two of the best singers in the world as, let's face it, they're only human. Just about, that is.

I like this version more than the Black Symphony one because Anneke's voice is not so dark here. It's true that Sharon didn't sing the right verse at the beginning, but she still was wonderful and the harmonies were still great ❤️
Sharon is known to fumble at times 😂 She still powers on through like a professional. Some artists would restart the song. Sharon just low key continued on.

I'm no musician but didn't the tempo seem like 30 percent faster and pushed the lyrics to be abrupt and rushed as well?
I don't know why they speed up, but still perfect a amazing song and Anneke become part of it, listen this song without her doesn't have the same impact. Sharon beautiful and funny with her unique way to be... Doesn't matter if she sang the wrong verse... 😍

Kind of shows there was a lot more to their defining moment than just the girls singing. Sharons hastily grabbed earpiece and a hotel band was never going to do it justice, but the smartphone gave it what it deserved.

what is this - a scratch orchestra ?- what a mess.. Here we have two of the greatest rock/metal vocalists the world has ever seen, and they're treated to a pigs breakfast shambles of appalingness. Result - for the first time ever I hear Sharon sing out of tune (not her fault).
This is such a beautiful duet (the best ever as it has been describe) yet this makes a mockery of it. Even then the pair of nightingales fight back (and it is a fight) but it makes for extremely unpleasant listening indeed.
Sometime, somewhere ...... some place ..... this duet WILL be reproduced again by these two all time great divas, with an orchestral arreangement of high end pro calibre and hey - i mjght even get to hear them sing it live!!

Unfortunately this in no way measures up to the original (which WAS the greatest duet ever), and the orchestral backing is substandard and does not emulate the original arrangement, in places actually clashing with the vocals. The original of course had the rest of the WT crowd in it (kitted out in their Purcell washes whitest outfits!) which added another dimension and counterbalanced the orchestra. A purely orchestral arrangement on its own, especially when it's a naff one like this, does not do this fantastic song - nor these world class vocalists singing it - Anneke and Sharon - justice. Bless them.
Sometimes it's better to leave well alone.
Sharon has terrible stage presence, but her voice is still really good.
