Keep up the great work man, just one thing to add: between S2-S3 youâre reading DC Voltage, fluctuation between 10-32VDC means properly communicating ODU-IDU.
Thanks for the video, and especially highlighting the troubleshooting. I'm an Electrical Contractor for 50 years, and now semi-retired, I help friends & family with their mini splits. Your videos have kept me out of trouble many times.
LIKE A BOSS with the shoulder strap ladder trick!!!đđ
Got lucky on the placement of those boards in condenser. Usually they are upside down and a pia to get to. Great stuff Super Dave
Nice work, I like your troubleshooting technique. Must say Iâve never had the pleasure of a short sleeved no heat call on a rooftop in February.
I'm in an entirely different field (I mainly do gas appliance repair) and my tool bag tips over all the time like yours lol
I like how you work. Super chill! My style also
Didnât you hear me yelling! DaveâŠcondensate pump..float..safety switch⊠good catchâŠinstalled 47 minis in one schoolâŠprior to renovationsâŠafter completing the renovations, guess what 35 condensate pump services.đđ
I hate those micro inline pumps. Stopped using them due to premature failure causing high temperature alarm in small server rooms. We use external mounted one piece mini split pumps easier to maintenance and repair. Another useful idea to keep door screws from getting lost I carry collapsing magnetic tray in my service bag. Craftsman and Matco have them available work awesome. I got tip from HVAC UK video đ
I agree we now use the aspen pumps that mount on the outside. Sooooo much better
Iâll look into those pumps
Refco COMBI has a good reputation from what I've heard.
@@sprockkets yep used those work great and install easy, but only one vendor in town stocks them.
Great video Dave. Cheers!!
Super tech all the way i have only installed 3 mini splits did not know about the float switch nice job again i always learn watching your channel
I have learned one or two things watching ur videos I'm new on the mini split field I've just installed a multi zone mini split system. Installing is always easy but troubleshooting a unit takes a lot patience cuz it ain't easy
The one handed up the ladder. Love it đ
Excellent work!
Nice job Dave, I like the Aspen pumps by rector seal they are external and mount just below the unit same color.
Great job Dave. I still use my Fluke 16 too. I bought a 116 but I still like my 16 the best.
I was diggin' that disconect too. I never seen one like that before, perfect for a condenser on a roof. I've got to look for those.
always spend some extra on a good disconnect with plugs. its so nice for the next guy, because the next guy is probably you.
@@SupremeRuleroftheWorld amen!
Good troubleshooting vid ... Thx for posting ...
My pleasure
Should of just checked voltage across L1 and L2 at the wall mount and if you have voltage there then the problem isnt at the condenser.
good catch dave
Good stuff my man!
Heâs a SUPER TECH đ
Another fine quality job done by super tech Dave!!! Go Crying Cowboyâs Fan seat warmer to the ninerâs!!!
great video as usual. nice place to put your main electrical panel,
Yep
Great job Bro
you're a hero!!!
Watching you Iâm like, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. The process of elimination in perfect sequence.
Thanks for watching
Hahaha, that blood check you did had me cracking up. Stay safe out there Dave!
this one had it all, blood sweat and tears!
Hi bro from west Alabama love yâall
Excelente
keep up the great work dave love the vids. learned a new thing pumps in minis new to this i've put 4 units in and never went up with lineset
I keep water in the truck when its warm here, though I got an army surplus water bottle to refill as I'm tighter than a ducks arse....
Those buzzy pumps are nothing but trouble!

Weâve got an older Mitsubishi mini split AC in an artist studio that just drains outside by gravity and tends to build up ice in the drain pan and then leaks into the room. The building doesnât allow permanent AC installation anymore, ours is grandfathered and we supposedly arenât allowed to replace it, but it would be nice if they would make an exception and recognize the environmental benefits of the energy efficiency advantages of us upgrading it to a heat pump instead of just using an electric baseboard heater in the relatively mild winters we get in Vancouver... I was able to air heat the place with 700 watts of continuous crypto mining, not quietly but it wasnât toooo bad for a couple winters as a productive alternative to the baseboard.
Great job as always Dave, your Troubleshooting skills are on another level. Supertech for life. What camera are using?
Cool vidâŠheard a little Hack coming through at the 8:05 mark đ€
Just installed 2 combi 2 pumps this week on my install. I tried to keep em accessible bc i know the service tech is gonna have to find them some day. But i test them b4 i leave at least
I've worked on a lot of Mitsubishi units and it's always a matter of keep taking screws out until you find what you're looking for. Fun stuff!
I hate those pumps , i away use the gobi 2 pumps made by reco . Good video
#BreakersInTheShitter đđ
I like cassettes in the ceiling for ease of service.
We know you love Tippy! đ
I'm going to be recovering from many walk in coolers soon, for the first time, can you give me some tips on how to approach this.
Can you use a Skuz-away pill to treat the sump?
Hey, Dave u forgot to shake those batteries!!!
Mini-split....rhymes with Money Pit.
s1 to s2 is 240 ac and s2 to s3 is DC voltage ranging from 12 to 26 or 27 volts
$4.39 for gas, I wish it was still that cheap down here in socal on the coast. lol
đ
Itâs awesome to see you work on all the stuff you do. How many years did it take for you to learn all that?
Iâm 35 years in and still learning
@@NorCal-refrigeration I got one year down. Thx for all your videos Dave
đđđ
đ€âĄïžđ€âš
Voltage on s2 and s3 bounces between 0 and 19 vdc, something like that?
Oh the joy of aging, leaks of all kinds....blood doesn't clot like it used to
U gotta get a cooler for those water bottles . Sitting in the heat in the van the plastic starts to melt and dissolves in the water. Really bad for u brother . Other then that. Keep grinding . Hvac for life
Yup ive always got an ice cooler packed with drinks, rockstars and water lol, life on the road
why is uv tape black, doesnt black absorb more heat in the summer?
What are the most commonly used t handle allen wrenche sizes you carry?
5/32 1/8 3/16
Nice one Super Dave đ
Do you guys use Sauermann condensate pumps over in the States ? Very popular here .
I have not.
I think they sell it here in the US too. Are they good?
@@REFRITEKREFRIGERACION yeah they're pretty good , I couldn't really spot the difference with the Aspen fancy super silent pumps really .
@@sterlingarcher46 Thanks, good to know. I was checking online a few months ago and I think I saw those Sauerman Pumps. I will check them out.
@@REFRITEKREFRIGERACION sauerman are good, but the aspen are top-notch
I for one do not like working on the glorified window unit mini splits
Me neither. seems like they dont last very long. Had a Samsung only last about 5 or 6 years. I did not install , the install did not look that great. so , i probably should not use this one i saw as a reference. poor install allways = Troubles & short life of any equipment.
@@OcRefrig I was told today 20,000 hours life span if they run all the time.
I do mitsubishis, we give our customers a 10 to 12 yr parts warranty. But they are fussy as heck especially with elevtronics. And not cleaning the filters means replacinc the blower wheel. But for a lot of our customers its the only option
@@OcRefrig Here in Europe they are full of electronics (weak part) life spam is about 10 years, but they are very energy efficient, I see you guys in the states are still running capacitor base units, which are much easier to serve and diagnosis
Ductless outside wall only gravity drain
since when does california need heating or air conditioning systems ? đ€ santa cruz is always 72 & sunny đ
You know you can troubleshoot whit the remote itself..checks everything pressure pumps up..on the remote
Hi super Dave I work on ice machine and small reach in refrigerator and freezer, I have a question in regards to critical charge systems, I use 36" hose, let's say the ice machine said to put in 15oz of 404A, how much should I put in exactly 15oz or do I go to 16-17 oz because when you remove your hoses you're losing some refrigerant, also how much in ounce refrigerant does each hose hold, for 36"hose and for 60" hose thanks.
Iâve herd 2oz per hose but never weighed it.
Purge your lines and set the tare weight on your scale before charging.
Doesn't it throw code for float switch..?
Run to clean your blod from condensing unit or someone can have that sample to clone you. đđđ
Yeah I guess that's the reason why they have schools for work on those things just so you know how many dang screws you got to take out đ€Łđ€Ł
No kidding. You have to take the slow approach
You know what happens when you lose your screws Dave???
YOUR SCREWED!!!!!đ€Șđ
Are all mini split heat pumps
No some are AC only
Impacts aren't made for sheet metal
What brand service bag is tippins?
Veto tb xl
Iâve seen the TP xxl doesnât tip as much
@@Justintime631 itâs expensive though
@@Justintime631 thanks so much
It's arriving Friday đȘ
@@00hate00 congrats. Itâs a good bag, itâs my main bag now. Iâm pleased with it
Owning a ac company in this day and age means you have to pay a tech for 4 hours to fix one system, what a nightmare it must be for them .
So simple a caveman can do it!
The main power switch is so stupid in Australia we have isolator switch made of plastic and why do you a fuse in a metal box on a roof when you have a fuse in the main switch board and why is everything like the 1970s when it comes to the main Power in the states
Itâs code here. Service disconnect within 6 feet I donât believe fuses are required you can use a non fused disconnect, but itâs always a fused installed.
@@NorCal-refrigeration ok so you have a main fuse in the subox then you have a fuse next to the outside unit if it's three phase power do you still have fuse at the outside unit and does it loses all turn off if you lose a phase at the outside unit disconnect switch
Be careful!!!!
Safety conscious and fine happy CA might get you for having a tool bag in your hand while climbing the ladder AND you filmed it giving them proof.
By the way....I F-IN' HATE MINI SPLITS!
Do you know the name of the engineer that designed the first mini split? BEELZEBAB!!!!! đč
Negative 15 and this shits the bed
i hate ductless all of them
Poor video, can even see what youâre talking about.
Great video ! When you do the Pump replacement can u show how to remove the cover to access the pump. i have not worked on a mitsubishi head unit yet. Thanks. Like #55.
