Builds the most beautiful space. *adds bucket*
Can’t wait to see how he covers it.
If have heavy tubing you need to shape, boil some water and dip the tubing in it for a bit, should allow you to shape it easily. And then run it under cold water to hold the shape.
Great advice, thanks!
I watch this video and I'm going to have a crack of making this filter the same way as man
Awesome! Good luck!
This is awesome! I’ve been looking for something to do for my 120 galling stock tank ☺️👍
Glad I could help! Good luck!
Awesome 👍🏻. Great job 👌🏻👏
Thank you! 👍
Nice I’m gonna try and do one my self!!!!. Keep up the good work I love your videos
Awesome! Thank you!
How did it go? Did you attempt it?
@@PeterParkerNY it went pretty well and I love the marvel reference!!
Great vid, I plan on modifying something like this and building it for a 125 gallon aquarium
Awesome! Good luck!
@@LongLiveYourTurtle Hello! Is there a link or place to get the lava rocks? I heard that the "real" lava rocks are hard to find and I'm worried that if I use the wrong ones or don't clean them enough my turtles would get sick.
Great idea......
Thanks a lot
You're pumping water that is clean.you should relocate the pump so it pumps dirty water.but im gonna try this.excellent diy
Do you think this alone would be enough for a 100 gallon stock tank?
I did this it somehow is a little foggy still after 2 hours of being on what should I do
I don't think the pump you have linked comes with the correct adapter for 1in hose
Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to look into it.
Thanks for sharing! I'm building a similar setup for our turtle habitat. My filter system will incorporate some living plants to take-up the nitrates etc. My question with your design, the 1st bucket will collect the waste 1st. Do you plan on cleaning that bucket only? How long can the lava rocks last before needing to replace or clean?
Yes the first bucket is meant to be easily removed and cleaned/floss replaced. The lava rocks can go quite a while (year?) without needing a dedicated rinse as long as you have plenty of filtration.
Hey LLYT is it possible to route the pump toward the top? I was thinking about doing something like this but I’ve read that if you do it the way you did sometimes the pump get clogged and full of gunk if you put iron top now that the water ran by the media it’s cleaner so it has a lot of a less a chance to crap out on ya also for your hose you can just put it in the bathtub for 20 mins in hot hot water will make it real flexible
Hey! Thanks for the advice on the hose, I'll have to try that. And not sure what you mean about the pump, do you mean set up the pump so it sucks water out of the tub (like an internal filter pump)?
@@LongLiveYourTurtle maybe that what I’m getting at with the pump but I’ve seen it when people set it up that the pump is pulling clean water from the filtered side
What makes you think the water passes THROUGH the lava rock instead of simply flowing around it?!
Maybe a bit of both. Either way the porous nature of the rock provides lots of surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow!
It’s crazy how u spent so much money on this I did the same thing but only spent $300 including the pump. I left the outside with just plywood and painted it. Reason why I saved so much is I had pallets and wood laying around so I only bought the plywood. My Turtle can walk on 2 sides. Ty for the design inspiration. I can show you what mines looks like if you want. 💙
Well everyone has their own way of thinking and reasoning. I'm building one for around 100 to 150 total so 😂
Hi is there a way we can make it with at home items? I cant really buy the stuff I live in sg idk where to get it
Possibly? Some items could be replaced with typical garden hardware store items (like bulkheads and pumps). Might be more expensive but would work just as well if planned accordingly.
A great video - I make all my own filters as well they are way more efficient easier to clean and of course way cheaper. Plus the satisfaction of making them.
Thanks! Very true!
Hello! Is there a link or place to get the lava rocks? I heard that the "real" lava rocks are hard to find and I'm worried that if I use the wrong ones or don't clean them enough my turtles would get sick.
Hi, I just got mine at Home Depot, they are sold as fire pit rocks. They are 100% lava rock and my turtles have not gotten sick. I would just be sure to rinse them well. Sorry if that wasn't very helpful but I understand the concern of using non-aquarium designed products and the risk it can carry.
@@LongLiveYourTurtle I have built this filter over the past few days and it worked great all night untill I went out to work on my turtle dock so I moved it so I can measure stuff for my tank and have room for the basking area. I started it back up but after a few minutes it filled all the way up to the top and overflew. I took it apart and nothing seemed to be clogged. Any ideas?
@@brandonjorck9658 Hmmmm, is it draining correctly? If air is caught in their it would be gurgling and draining slower, or a single rock near the drain hole could cause enough blockage.
@@LongLiveYourTurtle Thats the thing is it was still coming out of the bucket, but it's like it's not fast enough or something.

I have an idea🤔....
And what is that?!
I like the idea of a bucket filter🧐
who are the flowers for
You should pump clean water out of bucket so pump doesn’t clog
How do you mean?
TOTAL DECEPTION I SAW ANOTHER FILTER ON FLOOR !!!!!
