- A young Shaolin follower reunites with his discouraged brothers to form a soccer team using their martial art skills to their advantage.
Shaolin Soccer (Chinese: 少林足球) is a 2001 Hong Kong sports comedy film directed by Stephen Chow, who also stars in the lead role. The film revolves around a former Shaolin monk who reunites his five brothers, years after their master's death, to apply their superhuman martial arts skills to play soccer and bring Shaolin kung fu to the masses.

Fun fact"the italian version has an almost horrible dubbing because... it was dubbed by present (at the moment) and past top tier soccer italian/playing in Italy players and/or coaches. I truly had pain in my face and belly due to how much I laughed whatching it (at the movie theatre). And i'm also a fan of the Captain Tsubasa on wich this came (and maybe even an even older anime, Superboys / Akakichi no Irebun that has even more crazier shoot/physics).

As for the dub, do you know what players done the dubbing? I think that is absolutely crazy that they got Serie A players and coaches to dub it 🤣 must of been so painful!
Checking it now: I thought they were more, but just six and all from Roma and Lazio: Damiano Tommasi, Giuseppe Pancaro, Marco Delvecchio, Siniša Mihajlović, Angelo Peruzzi, e Vincent Candela all of them donated their pay to charities. Most of the other voices were also heavily accented in different italian dialect (as stated by italian wikipedia page ;-) )

It’s your choice to watch in English dub but I would really suggest you not to because y’all are missing out because the English translation in subtitles is way more detailed.
I could imagine so mate, We will watch it with English subs but not for the channel, don't think the reaction would be as good, we're both slow readers 🤣

english dub really takes away from the comedy of the original actors and how they choose to ham up the scenes when they do. Like it's fine, if you're really bad at reading.
We just feel it would be harder to give a good reaction when reading subtitles, and... we're not good at reading 🤣
