Neuromuscular blocking agents are among the most commonly used drugs during general anaesthesia. They compete with acetylcholine and interfere with the transmission of nerve impulses resulting in skeletal muscle relaxation. Based on their mechanism of action, neuromuscular blocking agents are classified as either depolarizing or nondepolarizing. Succinylcholine is a short-acting depolarizing agent. Commonly used nondepolarizing agents are curare (long-acting), pancuronium (long-acting), atracurium (intermediate-acting), and vecuronium (intermediate-acting). Neuromuscular blocking agents are used clinically to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery.
Classification- Non-depolarizing blocking agents: These agents constitute the majority of the clinically relevant neuromuscular blockers.
Depolarizing blocking agents: These agents act by depolarizing the sarcolemma of the skeletal muscle fibre. This persistent depolarization makes the muscle fibre resistant to further stimulation by ACh.

Your method of teaching is so good sir.. I am watching ur lectures from last one month..thanks for sharing this useful information with all of us ❤
But I have one question sir that muscle relaxants block nicotine receptor but not muscarinic. So Ach will bind to muscarinic receptors and can cause contractions. So how we can attain relaxation? Plz help sir 😊

You explained it well👍🏻👍🏻

Sir in comparative type it will compite with Ach and inhibite binding of Ach so we will use anticolinergic drug (atropin) or another nicotinic blocker as a muscle relaxant or not ? If no than why not use..
This is a good question. As i have explained in video that NMB act on Nicotinic type of receptors. (Actually NMB are classification of anticholinergic drugs) and atopin binds on muscarinic receptors.
Anticholinergics are divided into three categories in accordance with their specific targets in the central and peripheral nervous system: antimuscarinic agents, ganglionic blockers, and neuromuscular blockers
Thank you soo much sir
Sir,if question in semester exam is classify centrally acting muscle relaxants, than in ans we will write only defination ,classification and machanisam of action it is sufficient or write about diffrent example like d-tybercronin, vecuronium ,rocuronium or succinylchoine etc..
MANISH KUMAR Answer of any queation depends on marks. If that is 10 marks ques. Then definition, classification with examples, MOA with diagram (Dig is must) and explainatikn of any 1 will be enough. Please dont forget to explain any answer with diagram or flow chart.
@@solutionpharmacy thankuu sir
Thank you so much for great explanation sir 🤝
Thank you so much for feedback
Sir while major surgery if doctor will be giving msucle relaxant and also genral anaesthesia ( though it'll be in small quantity) but there is chance of drug drug interaction isn't it sir??
No. Drug-Drug interaction does not depends on its category mainly its based on profile of individual deugs
Hello sir.
Sir mujhe ek doubt h sir. Sir KD Tripathi m Mechaniam of action m ek Non-Depolarization blocker(competitive) and agla Depolarizing Blocker k bare m bta rkha h aur apne Depolarizing Agonist k bare m btaya h.

So, sir kindly solve my problem.
Aap ek baar pura video dekhiye aur uske baad KDT pariye. Sab samjh aa jayega
