  • This Is How You Can Build Realistic Trains In Transport Fever 2! I am a former Union Pacific Conductor and this is a tutorial on how to build realistic trans in TPF2. What do I mean when I say Build? In the real railroading world there are specific ways you build a train or put a train together. With variables like Hazmat cars, Shiftable loads, and the weight of cars, all these factors and more determine how you build a train. In this video I will give you tips and tricks so you can have realistic trains on your Transport fever 2 map of your choice.     Good video, I’ve just picked up TF2 and starting to learn the ropes. I’m from the UK but love the US railroad system so I’m trying to learn as much as I can about manifest composition and configuration. I do try and aim for a more realistic simulation so it’s great to see how much work you’ve put into this. Keep up the great work, you’ve earned a new subscriber! :) 😊

    Thanks a ton for that vid! Very informative and yet still fitting to the actual gameplay.
    Oh, just a minor detail re your maps : the 'Spitzkehre' Cargo station you are using have a very small capacity, doesn't seems ti be affected by the Enhanced train station cargo capacity, and can't be edited. The Yard Framework have invisible modules and there are 10 000 cargo capacity invisible modules on the Workshop too.
    Amazing details anyway ;)

    One issue I have with the game is don’t dead head rule. When I worked for ConRail that’s how it worked. You take your train to the first industry and pick up your empty’s. Generally you cut your train at the engine and put your empties at the head end. You keep repeating until you are done or run out of time. When you are done you deadhead back with empties. The game is not realistic in this way. It’s an easy fix for them..

    I'm a current UP Conductor and I would love if you could model Las Vegas to Yermo. Single main and plenty of sidings. *sigh* such is my life now lol

    looks good, but, to run these mega train lengths you will need a pc with a huge processor, then if you intend to build small cities, this takes up more processor power, may work if you have a big freight yard at each end of the map and nothing else.

    So iv been thinkering with those weights, and i have some results, there are individual files for each cargo type like coal, goods steel and so on lacated here: "steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2
    es\config\cargo_types\"
    Ive edited every single one from default value of 1200 to 7000 units
    And the there is a mod "ultimate cargo and passenger capacities" ive set it up for cargo trains x3,5, the end result is: 111 car consist of Bathgon II loaded with 1221 units of coal weights 12727t, its a 6640ft long train, with 7 power units. Same length stack train with 23 sets of 5, have waight of 29110 tons!

      Those were reskins I did and original modder had them taken down.

      @@AllThingsRailroad Is it possible to work with Yeast Cheese as he still has his mods there, inlcuding GP38-2? Maybe give your files to him or something. and co-author in Steam? Would really like to get these back into game.

    Isn't there a rail sim that would take into account all of loadings/positioning info you refer to? Transport Fever 2 is not kind of rail sim.

    Lol. Just Lol. Realistic trains.. ha? Buhahaha. They might look realistic.. but how about the train stations those realistic trains will stop? How about those? Naahhh Those don't need to be big enough so the realistic trains fit inside them.
