Man, I wished I had a playgroup like that. I love how making mistakes or asking for the right play is just part of the game and not something anybody has to feel bad about. I can feel Sheas insecurities about certain plays or rules questions and it's cool to see that her presence is valued over her knowledge about the game. This is how people will become huge mtg nerds. A good player carries the game and other players with it. You all are exceptional. Also, I love the fact that the eliminated players are still part of the game. Doesn't seem like much but makes a huge difference in table dynamics. Really nice, thank you.

I love how this show has 4 different levels of experience, 4 different kinds of players/deckbuilders, 4 different levels of bling/optimization, and this doesn't get in the way of the game at all. Quite the opposite, it shows that Commander is about gathering and having fun, and that the social and political aspect of it makes all the difference regardless of each player or deck.
PS: last video I was going to comment on how the repeating music was a little too loud and annoying, but clearly you guys were on to it so that's great! also, I still can't get over how much I love your rule 0 and am using it all the time now.

@@suschilegge1683 each player describes their deck and "the worst thing it can do". it's such a clever way to break the ice, to compare power levels with an actual example, and to help all players of all levels assess the threats for that game much better.
Hey Shrines folks, fun police here for Sanctum of All:
Triggered abilities use the word “when,” “whenever,” or “at.” They’re often written as “[Trigger condition], [effect].” Replacement effects, using “instead” or “as,” aren’t affected. Activated abilities (written as “Cost: Effect”) of Shrines you control are also not affected.

First time watching a commander show for more than 5 minutes: with the new cards, I was really excited to stay till the end! Altogether a very polished show -- love the little target icons from the editing, and love the fun you all are having. CGB, I just want to thank you for how you have really kept me excited about magic for these past couple years. The 3 times we actually played each other on Arena were so much fun (I even made it onto 2 of your daily videos!) and you have made my pandemic SO much better than it would have been. I was quite worried when you went on vacation and didn't know if you were ever coming back! Welcome back and thanks again!

B) of all if you're gonna flex the duals, grab the Plateau seeing as how that is the cheapest of the three playable in the deck.

That's not how Raiyuu works. The untap trigger always happens, then a check is performed to see if how many combat steps have been taken. Also when Isshin is on the board Raiyuu triggers twice and generates 2 additional combat steps.
As soon as we saw him we knew this was gonna come up. Tbf as soon as we saw the commander we knew there were gonna be some extra combat steps
Yeah it's supposed to untap. I like these people but sometimes I feel like they feel the need to over explain things to Shea in a way that's actually wrong lol.
@@MattTorres I think the interesting thing that happens in magic is the longer you play the more silly mistakes like that happen. I know a lot of extra combats ONLY untap if they actually enter an extra combat and just like them assumed he worked the same but as the Professor says, reading the card explains the card.
I mean, most of the times she attacked with more than one creature at the last combat, so they would have stayed tapped anyway.
Probably has been said already, but LOVE the authenticity of the members at the table. Though all-round powerful gameplay, the energy feels very relatable and down to earth. Out of all the Commanders shows I've watched, this is the only one I'd feel comfortable sitting down to and joining for a game.
I need more sassy Blake content. I absolutely love watching that dude get excited for what his deck does, I love how he interfaces with the other players, makes deals, threatens action. Blake - if you read this, even when you lose, you easily make these videos for me.

in its simplicity and due to the liekable bunch of people playing here...its awesome. Best commander youtube games for me atm and I am through a lot of channels. good camera angles, nice music, super dope outro with those pictures (!), lots of facetime and not too much board only. Don't overload it with to much cinematic stuff and stay humble and I will continue to watch fooorever ;P. Much love from Berlin.

Always love the CGB content. Been an avid supporter of Coolstuffinc for pretty close to 10 years now. This was an intense battle and glad to see that the Cool Kid's Dojo took the victory today!!

The villain embercleave emerged once more only to be vigilantly backhanded by the control mage. As control mages we must remain cool and vigilant for the embercleave still lives on waiting for it's opportunity to pounce...

I played Magic for the first time when I was around 11 or 12 years old. Got a bunch of cards from a friend and tried it out. No one was playing it in my area so I stopped playing. When MTGA came out for Mac I started playing again and it felt so nostalgic! I don't do particularly well, I am somewhat decent, ranking in diamond and mythic once. I play because I think it's a fun game. This show reminds how fun Magic can be, playing with friends and hanging out. Now I am trying to find some people to play with in my adult life (I am 32) and have fun like you guys!
Just getting in to Commander now and built my first deck today - an Isshin deck! Looking forward to enjoying playing with friends like you guys do! Thank you making this content; it inspired me to play MTG again.
i just wanna give it up to the editor of these commander videos they are killing it. they dont in my oppinion go too over the top, but thats to their credit. theres a lot of videos where people try to toss a bunch of edits or not enough, and it doesnt come out well but brent is doing a very nice job. just wanted to toss that out there i dont have any witty comment to try and curry favor to cgb just all around pleased vibes

CGB and Hinata, Dawn-Crowned: They're like shrines, except better! Amazing episode, tough call between throwing the magma or the march under the Jin-Gitaxias bus and I'm not sure which one I would have chosen but GGs on the win.

Loving this vid, all the commander matches have been cool and I don't even play commander. Makes me wish I lived in Michigan and could get in on the action...
I also have a shrine deck with Go-SoLO, and ramped it up by making it a shrine/gate deck. Thanks to the Baldur's Gate set making gates GOOD thanks to Gond Gate, and Baldur's Gate it was an easy choice to swap out dual lands and triomes for gates. I also included 7 ways to go fetch gates, and spells that count gates like Gates Ablaze and Hold the Gates. I also leaned into the return enchantments side of Go-SoLO by putting in 26 (including the non-creature shrines) enchantments and even put in a ton of enchantment creatures (9/21 creatures in the 99 are *not* enchantment creatures), including two that have constellation effects. People always talk up my deck as being "dangerous" but I rarely win.
What an awesome game love the swings in power this group is always entertaining. I'd love to see your group play some partner commander's.

I love shrines. That deck can so easily escalate and control the entire table. I loved it at games heaven. Esmond was playing the shrines with extra turnes, that was awesome.
I dunno how difficult this would be but a note about this experience: it would be really cool to see everyone's hand through this. I would probably watch all of them if that eas a thing
I personally like seeing the surprise plays, and I wouldn’t like seeing what happens to the comment section when everyone has full hand knowledge

I was so excited going into this video to see a March of Swirling Mist resolve with Hinata on the field and it felt so bad to see it shot down by Jin-Gitaxias. Then again, I've also wanted to see Jin actually do something since he doesn't get much love in Standard.

I love the economy of spoken agreements in paper magic :D. You miss that in arena....it's like Monopoly or something....hit a property and negotiate free passes and stuff in exchange for not being able to pay your debt. "I won't kill your thing if you promise it's attacking someone else"

I really like Blake's board position at 1:18:40 . Very solid.
Took me 3 individual watches but I got to the end. Major take always Shea is still here with individual cards that seem alright but creating tons of value. Almost even a jank player in the making and plays greatly into the idea of hiding information. Ben is always there for the big splashy spell that saves the game but doesn’t finish the game. Cgb with incredible threat detection and Blake with the coolest in my opinion deck, Shrines. Loved the game thank you. And see you next time.

Blake, sanctum of shattered heights does not "trigger" twice with sanctum of all on the board since it's an "activated Ability". it's an activated ability, so u shot things for free, which is not how it should have gone. which happens many times

That embercleave came out of nowhere, but CGB defended the dojo like a true blue mage.
Man, CGB caught flashbacks to Eldraine and THB standard when that embercleave hit the board. Not gonna lie I did to, but that answer was right on time

The way CGB omits to ask about Alesha's attack trigger at 1:09:50 because there is an ankle shankler in the grave and Shea could resurrect this with the goldspan treasure. I saw that. Totally fair though, would have done the same. Plus you do point it out next time, so good on you.

Next game every player is going to show up with Shin guards (except Shay).
Also: CGB's deck was predictably sweet, super cool commander, and Shrines are annoying, but props to Blake for not just holding fogs and board wipes.
Ben: you needed some better artifact hits. Urza's Saga, Urza, Lord High Artificer, Torrential Gearhulk + Sublime Epiphany (which could be a legit wincon in your deck).
Overall, great game!

When they trigger an additional time, he has to pay for it an additional time.
And the tempered in solitude only trigger when a creature attacks alone, so there was quite alot of extra cards there that may have shifted the game play a bit

Also it was weird that CGB didn't make him pay extra to target his commander when his commander specifically states oppenents targets cost 1 cost, so wouldn't that make his shrine cost a mana to target? It does that in arena so I was confused
