Some people prefer more brightwork compared to the all blacked-out look, understandably. It's a bit more classic, whereas shadowline is more modern. Looks good in either configuration!

Thanks for a nice introduction to this car. I have two quick questions. First, does it have rear axle steering? I have tried a couple of cars that have it, and I am no big fan. Second, how does it compare to the M440i Gran Coupe? Other than the look, does it drive differently?
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed. It does not have rear-active steering (or integral active steering, as BMW calls it). The M340i and M440i are mechanically very similar. Near identical, save for a few suspension changes to accommodate the different weights and shapes of the car.
It was surprisingly chilly this morning when we filmed this, and the car had just been started, so I suspect that has something to do with the small laggyness. Once the car is slightly warmed up, or if its a warmer day (60F or above), I wouldn't expect any laggyness. In our experience with iDrive 8 so far, we've experienced minor lag as seen here on some cars (likely due to temp, car sitting for a little while), but most work with immediate response times.

Almost everything looks great except I wish they kept most of the physical control buttons. Also, not a fan of the new idrive 😕
Thankfully the previously physical buttons are only a click away in the screen. It's a change you get used to quickly

What information does the HUD provide in sport mode? Anything above/beyond what I've seen in the genetic HUD walkthroughs?
In sport mode, the HUD changes it's base color to red, and displays a non-numeric tachometer.

The shade can be opened on it's own, and the glass can either be tilted or opened completely.

Modifications and warranties are a slippery slope. Talk to your service advisor about it, they'll be able to give you the best information.
