    So good at recycling possession and buying time for his teammates to move off the ball, it looks simple but it requires insane calmness and clarity of mind, as well as good technique to do it with the ball so close to him. Absolutely bargain of a playmaker for just 30m. I'm so happy we signed him, I even said when he was fifteen that he'd fit Arsenal. Funny how that works out.

    • @nathanj109
      @nathanj109 Před 2 lety +36

      I remember him being unveiled as the Real Madrid signing when he was 16. Hyped up to be the next big thing after Guti but never quite made it with all the chopping and changing going on there.
      Went under the radar for 6-7 years and now look at him! I couldn’t agree more with how you’ve described him and the fact Arteta has put his arm over his shoulder and given him the faith and belief to make him feel like the “main man” is part of the reason he’s producing - he’s now one of our best performing players this season 🤩

    • @kazielbonn
      @kazielbonn Před 2 lety +4

      I have an idea that I had in mind for quite a while now on how to get both Smith-Rowe and him starting. Either Arteta switches to two attacking central mids and Partey as the lone holding mid or Odegaard is placed in the Xhaka role in the double pivot that's proving successful now. What do you both think? Wasted there or maybe not physically strong enough to break up play like Xhaka? I feel that Odegaard would excel if given the deep-lying playmaker role like Albertini, Pirlo, Xavi etc. had. Would be great to hear what others think.

    • @sergeygeorgiy9154
      @sergeygeorgiy9154 Před 2 lety +3

      @@kazielbonn Playing 2 attacking central mids is possible, but that exposes the wings, since the two wingers are pushed high up the pitch. Tierney and Tomiyasu (both are good players) would struggle a bit more when defending.
      Odegaard is not that effective when playing as a CM. Xhaka makes those long through balls that Odegaard generally can't. Xhaka HAS to be in the team.
      Therefore, the best formation is the current one: 4-2-3-1, with Odegaard as a CAM, dropping a bit deeper to help support the midfield, collect balls, and progress up the pitch. Xhaka, on the other hand, can add more attacking options by making those long through balls (see the Liverpool game in 2020 when we drew 1-1 or the more recent Leeds and Norwich games)

      but sometimes he make unnecessary dribble who made lose the moment

    • @nathanj109
      @nathanj109 Před 2 lety +4

      @@kazielbonn I think Odegaard can do a good job in the double pivot role, as a deep lying playmaker. He’s good under pressure, with quick feet so he could do it well I’m sure but I think it would take away some of the better aspects of his game... Odegaard makes passes into the final third that are ready to be hit first time! Or with very little needing to be done (maybe two touches) to finish, once he passes to you. Plus his passes are very hard to read for the defenders, he disguises them well with his body shape, feints etc.
      For the next few weeks without Partey it’s an option to consider. For me, you have to keep Xhaka in there too as the balance he brings to the team on that left side cannot be underestimated but that’s another story lol. Physically I would worry a little bit with Odegaard in a more defensive role against the ‘bigger’ clubs. Heading isn’t his strong point. However Odegaard dropping deeper and fulfilling that deep lying playmaker role could work well against the lesser teams.
      The Partey lone cdm role with ESR and Odegaard as the attacking double pivot is what we all want to see 😍 the football we can play in this formation is our strongest in an attacking sense.
      Arteta has done it a couple of times this season but Partey was a little off form one game, Xhaka returned, and he’s played them both since.
      Both very good suggestions you’ve made and I’m sure Arteta is thinking about them should we need to change tactics to suit the games needs. We need to be able to switch it up more and keep teams guessing.

    Still think he could have had more assists this season if not for all those misses from his teammates. He could have had a solid 9 assists until now in the games I watched .

    Ødegaard should've gotten more assists if he had CFs in his team who is better in positioning and off the ball runs, likes CR7, Haaland. If Isak comes into Arsenal in this window Ødegaard going to perform more and more

    • @Fremtidensmann
      @Fremtidensmann Před 2 lety

      We have Martin and Haaland on our National team, and as you may know we have not seen any major playoffs in 20 years. So i we find his performance for Arsenal a little disturbing, seeeing what he is capable of doing. But not for us.
