    After watching brilliant Austria painfully knocked out by magnificent Turkey by 2x forgivable errors on set-pieces lastnight ...England should be thanking the heavens right now, sit up and do some sensible changes to that starting eleven + our formation otherwise we are Not reaching the semis if we continue relying on "lucky moments" of our matches!

      @@dirtygunslinger9835 agree give Gomez the opportunity to play and show what he has got otherwise why take him in the first place. Saka an Gordan are both wingers by trade so would agree on that point as well. Gareth needs to abandon his timid side to side passing game and play some balls into the box with some pace preferably from down the line. Watching Jude making run after run into the box and our wingers cutting back on their favourable leg trying to pick him out with no pace on the ball is not how England are going to win particularly when the crosses in the box have not had much quality on them. They also need to get some more men in the box when the crosses are played to help create some chaos in the box.

    Luke Shaw is not over his injury.
    He's not played for months.
    Yet there is talk of throwing him into a Quarter-Final of an international tournament?
    The absolute stupidity of Shaw's selection beggars belief.
    It's akin to Sven Goran Erikson selecting a 17yo Theo Walcott for World Cup 2006 when he had neither a Premier League or senior England cap to his name. Jermaine Defoe would have been a great back-up for Michael Owen who tore his ACL in our second group fixture.
    Gareth Southgate should have selected a natural left-footed English defender who wasn't already crocked.
    Joe Gomez could be selected if Kieran Trippier needs resting.
    But Levi Colwil or Ben Chilwell were surely available for selection before the tournament deadline.

    I think Gareth took Shaw for his leadership skills, his experience despite him not playing is key. It's odd but just like Coady used to be, Shaw's that leader in the dressing room that can bring calmness amid the storm. He obviously would play a part in the semis - should we make it through. It's odd but Gareth's taken a huge risk when he's known for his conservatism. That's what his plan was. For the Switzerland game I can see us reverting to a back 3 which would work fine. I think he'll start the same 11 but in a different formation with Trippier and Saka as WB. Konsa in with Stones and Walker. I think he'll play Bellingham in a false 9 up top with Kane. If Jude is suspended then Palmer drifts in.

    @bluecarefreeforever Před 3 dny +1

    Why are we risking a player who hasn’t played since February? We can easily set up a back 3 and Guiehl is out on cards so Stones centre with Walker and Trippier. This gives us the spare man for attacking. Mainoo and Rice as pivots with Mainoo more forward the use 5 forwards with Gordon left (with additional left support defence) two no10’s with foden and bellingham and palmer to the right and kane up front. It’s so obvious and far more creative.
