On my last cruise ,the staff working the pool area were removing several towels that were left far too long used for saving chairs. What a great crew! Everyone appreciated getting a chair by the pool. Chair hogs are the worst!

Saw a new form of chair hogs in February on Odyssey. The ship was at 47% capacity and we still couldn't find chairs. Then we noticed a number of groups of people who would sit on a set of chairs near the window of the solarium and then have a second set of chairs with their stuff on it on the interior shaded section. Also happened on the regular pool deck where groups would have seats near the pool to watch their kids and another set under the upper deck where it was shaded. Definitely not cool or considerate.

I think Royal should set aside some pool loungers that can be reserved for a fee. Like the casitas, which so many people criticize. (I don't understand that.) I would gladly pay to reserve a lounger ahead of time. I'd even pay fo 2, so I wouldn't have to sit so close to others. Thx Matt. Another reason why we shouldn't be walking fast or jumping around pool deck is because there's a stateroom below the deck. I've stayed on deck 13 onboard Quantum and it's really really annoying when someone else is running over deck 14 (pool deck) and disturbed your afternoon nap. It's a ship with metallic floor, not an actual concrete floor that has a good soundproofing... Lesson learned, never pick a stateroom below pool deck just for the sake of convenience of getting to the pool and windjammers.

I always find the worst chairs available but I usually don't care as I do not lay in the sun anyways, the chair is there to hold my stuff while I am in the pool/hot tubs.
I agree with the Children aspect, so many times I see kids who are overly obnoxious in the pool and the parents are nowhere to be found. Also, children splashing around in the hot tub is another pet peeve of mine. It's why I stay in the Solarium as much as I can but then I miss some of the pool deck activities.
Another one, is take advantage of a pool day at a port you have already been to and don't need to go again. When we are at Freeport, I stay on the ship and having the pool deck to yourself is such a nice feeling.
