A small moveable and resizeable window pops up click the button that says "add reference" you can add as many images as you want to it and saves you the pain of accidentally eraseing or drawing on the wrong layer

tip: instead of using a new layer on clipping for the outlines, you can just tap alpha lock on the outline layer ☺️
