    I've been loving having Necas in Canes due to his name being an anagram of Canes, so will be sad to see him go if that's where the team is headed, but will love to see how his career developss if it is to continue elsewhere

    Necas is a great and talented player but when I watch him on the ice I always get the feeling that our system really doesn't fit his strengths. It could be very beneficial for everyone if he found a home somewhere else and it has really just been a question of what we would want in return. This year with the amount of pending free agents we have just getting rid of the cap hit and getting good draft picks or prospects would be good enough. Even if he ends up going via offer sheet I'd be fine with it if that helps us keep Guentzel.

    Canes can't keep everyone, and Necas is the best fit to go. He's a very talented player who hasn't quite reached his full potential in Carolina. For the price he will rightfully demand for his new contract, and considering all the other contracts Carolina has to sign, it seems the best choice would be to trade his signing rights and at least get something back for him. I would definitely miss him here, but I think he would do better under a different system.

    • @thatisjustwhatisaid
      @thatisjustwhatisaid Před 22 dny +2

      Very well said. I was fearing we'd lose him for peanuts but it seems a lot of fanbases have interest in him, even in this comment section. Best case scenario there's a small bidding war for him and get a great rotation goalie, a 2nd line winger who fits our system better, or a couple draft picks including a 1st rounder.

    Hope Arniel’s time goes smoother in Winnipeg than it did in Columbus when he was their HC.
    The Jackets improved by 2 points after he took over for Hitchcock/Noel, then fell completely apart the next season. Can’t stress enough how bad they looked; directionless, unmotivated, and often behind 2-0 immediately in games before Arniel was fired exactly 1/2 way through.
    Todd Richards took over and it was night and day, same team. It’s no wonder to me it’s taken this long for him to get a second HC chance like this.

    Scott Arniel as Jets coach isn't a surprise at all. Sadly, True North is too much of a boys club. This team needs postseason success, not just someone with ties to Winnipeg. I hope his success as head coach isn't like his penalty kill was. I wish him luck, and hopefully only a 1 year term to start. Then, if the Jets are out in the first round next year, send him out with them.

    Canes fan here: Necas . . . Loved that we drafted him, loved that we got him started (hopefully on a long and successful career), loved that he appeared to have fun most of the time. Not every player on any given team should be kept just for the sake that they were drafted by the organization. Most of the time for players that are really talented, just not in the great category, they need to move on so they can finish rounding out everything so that they can become the absolute best that they can be in the entirety of their playing careers (think Elias Lindholm). I do believe it’s time for Necas to move on, not for the Canes sake, but for his. We have other really solid young players waiting in the wings, we can’t afford to pay him what he’s worth. It would be nice to get some draft capital or a solid prospect for him, not another roster player.

    i think the hope is that Arniel will simply continue the trajectory that Bowness put the team on.

Anderson for KK is bad contract for Bad contract but Anderson is more proven and short contract while KK is younger and cheaper...Although would KK work back in Montreal, it is alot different now so perhaps.

A bit more realistically though, if Kochetkov improves as much over the Summer as last year, we'll be doing great with him as our first goalie. We don't want to repeat our d-man issues with goalies, where we were paying 7 defencemen who would have made the first pair in almost half the league. Hronek was invisible in the playoffs and the 2nd half, so if the Canucks want to bring back Zadorov and get that winger for Pettersson, it would make sense. I’ve also heard rumours about Pesce being a possible UFA option for Hughes. That could work. Couple of ex-Canes. Obviously, that probably means Vancouver isn’t looking to recoup a 1st round pick, which is a little disappointing, since the prospect pool is still pretty shallow. But we’ll see.

      Necas never adapted to Rod’s system. He wanted to be on the top line, he wanted to do it his way, and very often, he would go McDavid to enter the zone, then turn the puck over because he had no idea what to do next. He blames his shortcomings on the talent around him. He’s an overtime monster…in the regular season. He needs space to be successful. So, teams that don’t forecheck could definitely see him as a fit.

      Bruins trading one of their goalies (in a package) for a center would be a good idea. As a Rangers fan, Carolina could use an upgrade in net so there's mutual interest there if the Bruins are actually shopping one of their goalies.

    I have been underestimating Scott Arniel since the 90's. It is high time I realised it and show him some respect for the game he has been involved for basically 60 years.
    That said, I am guessing his first order of business is getting associate coaches to fix the PP and PK. Basically, both are atrocities. Good luck, Coach Arniel

    • @73Ambassador
      @73Ambassador Před 22 dny +2

      What concerns me is that Arniel was in charge of that horrible PK, and he was "head coach" during 5 of that late season 6 game losing streak when Bones was sick. If he can't run the PK, how can he run the entire team? First off, they need to fire PP coach Brad Lauer. If they don't, I can't take this organization seriously as they are too much of a familiarity based boys club.

      They’re dipping their toes in the water to test the concept. I’m guessing they thought that “If it doesn’t work in these traditional hockey-mad cities, it won’t work elsewhere. So we can fold our tent without too much financial losses. And if it actually does work, we can expand more next year.” It looks to me that they’re drawing fans, so I assume they’re showing a modest profit. I have no idea how much they make off sponsorships, TV contracts, etc. Assuming they’re healthy enough, it will be interesting which cities they choose for the next expansion.
