Katie, Run For Your Life! What You described to Chris Harrison is called “Breadcrumbing”. You get a little crumb here a little crumb there, but you’re always hungry. Chris seems perfectly happy to take and take and take from you, but he doesn’t seem to know how to give. When you’re empty and emotionally exhausted and about to leave he’ll give you just enough to get you to stay. It’s “intermittent reinforcement”, a type of emotional abuse. It’s toxic and it will mess you up if you stay long term. I know this from personal experience. It’s not going to get any better, maybe for a little while, but not permanently. Ask yourself this: How will you feel if this treatment continues over the next 10 days, the next 10 months, the next 10 years? Don’t waste your life away on this man. You can’t get the time back and life is short. He has a lot of work to do before he’s capable of the kind of relationship you deserve. It’s not your job to fix him. Chris seems like he grew up a lot from the old shows and Katie seems like such a beautiful, smart, and nice lady. She seems to be vested in the relationship more than he is that is all. He was trying to break up with her, but she didn't see the signs and kind of pressured/guilt him into taking it to the next steps if you watch the show...typical dating dynamics. It is clear that they are not on the same page and should find people on the same page as them.

Here is my perspective on this, they should go to couples counseling if they want their relationship to last and work this out or break up because maybe they are compatible and that’s fine. Katie wants to be shown affection, that is how she sees love and Chris seems like the type where why do i have to be lovely Dovey when you know how i feel (my parents are like that). I think they could work it out and there could be a middle ground but they will need time. That’s the problem with the show. It’s like a pressure cooker so sometimes you can gloss over the little things. They were the one couple i wanted to see get engaged so i am happy to see them engaged but i don’t think they are emotionally ready to be married quite yet

You guys.... look at the body language. Even though he was upset about being blindsided on stage he was still touching her arm and trying to reassure her. He didn’t walk away from the convo, she did. I’m sure he felt like they should have discussed what she was going to say on stage first. Hence feeling “blindsided”. Plus he probably didn’t want all of their business out there.... I know I wouldn’t have wanted it. He’s a laid back kinda guy and he’s isn’t always verbal about his feelings, but it doesn’t mean that they aren’t there.

Katie the woman Chris marries will be the one who is going through the same roller coaster. The only difference is Chris will be 35-40 years old, feels the clock is ticking and finally gets married because it's a societal norm. It will not be because he understands or wants a healthy relationship, that I promise.
I like both of these people, but maybe Chris isn't into Katie the way she is into him. Perhaps, he really is but needs therapy to help him work through some things. She's been very patient, but maybe she should just move on and let him work on himself. The two may not be compatible because clearly Katie needs more affection and is NOT getting it.
