FYI: They were very popular and common all through the 1980-s. The juppie era. I had several back then. And also quite generous in fact very similar to the style you market now.

I completely and wholeheartedly embrace the revival of 1930’s menswear. The look was a snazzy then as it is now.
Your ability to place garments in their historical context is priceless. A double breasted peak lapeled jacket, (sport coat or suit) is always elegant and a step above the usual and the ordinary. I have a few of both and they ALWAYS attract attention without being ostentatious.

From what I have heard, double breasted jackets and waistcoats lost popularity after WWII because they were too expensive for many because of the extra fabric.

I believe you forgot to mention that there was a resurgence of double breasted jackets in the eighties and nineties, with looser fits, as opposed to the sixties and seventies, where the skinnier modernist suits and the suits from the "Disco" era prevailed.
These looser double breasted suits from the eighties/nineties were mostly associated to those who worked in finance, especially in banking. The style was also pushed by brands such as Giorgio Armani until the nineties and slowly faded throughout the 2000s until current times.

Things fathers forgot to teach their sons. Thank you so much for teaching generations how to find their own style and keep it classy. I am a double breasted attracted woman myself. I think it enhances aspects of a man I find attractive. One of the first serial killers caught using FBI behavioral science applications, the profiler said he would be wearing a double breasted suit. Though they arrested him in his jammies, they allowed him to change. He changed into his double breasted suit. It is still my favorite cut.

It's a shame how "fashion" dictates taste...
Many men could benefit from say a double breasted jacket, higher rise trousers and specific necktie widths, proportionate to their specific body type.
But somehow, the industry has convinced most men to try and fit into the "skinny suit" and they seem to sell PLENTY of them.
Regardless if the guys buying them look like dookey 😂

Recently, I got the opportunity to try on a double-breasted coat for the first time. I think they should make more of a comeback, as they fit a more--shall we say--heftier body type like mine.

@@AskOkeyInc you're right, of course. I should clarify, I live/work in an area where it's more common to see the two button, wear off-the-rack style. Due to this, up until recently, I've always been led to believe that double-breasted coats had been more on the decline. Please pardon my ignorance in this regard, and thank you for all that you do.
DB jackets are way more stylish but have to be properly fitted. Most Men don't like them because you can't gain or lose weight without them looking stupid. Single breasted are more "accommodating" to weight changes.

I've shied away from double-breasted coats because I was taught they tend to make you appear wider/shorter, and I'm a short man already. Can a proper fit and styling enable the vertically challenged to rock such a look?

Does a double breasted suit work better for larger builds? I'm looking to go bespoke for my wedding and I'm 6'3, 235. I look ridiculous in a continental fit suit..
Maybe the double breasted went out of fashion because they’re based on a military design and after the wars, men wanted to veer away from a uniform look. Then again, I am pulling all this straight from my buttock, so I could be wrong.

SB coats require less cloth DB (generally speaking)
