I have a mine cut 1/2 carat diamond that originally was my husband's grandmother's, then his mother's then mine.Because I know his grandmother was married in 1905 I assume it was new at that time.It is a small diamond but has brillance that is unbelieveable. I had the ring assessed and I was shocked at how valuable the diamond is despite it's size. But, of course, size and color- this one is very white and clarity all factor in. The jeweler said it only had a few very very small occlusions and that is why it sparkles so beautifully. Only problem with the mine cut is the area where the jeweler held the diamond so he could cut it is not cut so at the very base of the ring you can see the area that was not cut.
Dan Seabreeze there’s a market premium now on authentic antique cut diamonds that have that warm color. Near colorless ones will still be most preferred but many consumers, especially bridal shoppers, are gearing toward old mine/old Euro’s in those KLM+ colors. It’s actually an interesting time to be in the business and watch this trend unfold😎
@@jameswallace6227 couldn't agree more I just purchased a 2 carat old European cut diamond ring 2 carat in the main stone color m and .50 of round brilliant cut diamonds on the side it's a two tone gold ring

Thanks for this video! Is that RB super ideal cut or? Thanks kindly!
What are the respective specs (cut grade, clarity, color) on the stones?
I love antique diamonds if the color and clarity is nice coz they are generally brownish, yellowish and flawed.
一顆較微黃 要閃搖一下
old aaallllllll the way

Kewl
People might be swayed by the color rather than the cut in this example.

The modern cut has the best shine, but the old one is always a real diamond, not a moissanite.
There’s also lab grown and I believe moissanite that does the old cut as well
I would never set a yellowish diamond in yellow gold. Put that in a white setting!!!
Putting a yellow diamond in a white setting would just make it look more yellow.
