I am Indonesian living in North America and I'm so proud that Gado Gado is being featured on the Esselstyn's channel ❤ not only that but the guest also talked more about Indonesian culture and said Kecap Manis correctly 😉Thank you!! when my husband and I changed our lifestyle due to health back in 2016, we watched Forks Over Knives and purchased The Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Cookbook. Love the Esselstyn!

Today I was able to watch your Indonesian Gato Gato dish. I learned so much it was amazing. And I made it. And loved it. I love your programming. I watch every recipe. And thank your dad/ husband. He saved my life I was actually diagnosed as terminal with heart disease with a 90% lower descending main artery or something like that. This was after five bypasses and two stents. I was able to reduce my blockage by 80% almost. I got my life back all because of his instructions in his book. My story is a bit longer but I’ll spare everyone and just simply say I got my life back and it’s been 15 years! Feeling great. Thanks.

Meat causes heart disease and diabetes. We are using half the planet to grow animals or food for animals. Agritortured animals have to stand in slaughterhouse trucks for 3 days with no food or water. Go vegan.

Interesting take on gado-gado! I didn't know that they use tomatoes, both in the sauce and part of the veg, in the eastern part of Indonesia.
I used to live in Jakarta, where gado-gado is originated from, with my mum. We often have gado-gado for lunch and my mum would use both dry roasted peanut and cashews, and instead of using kecap manis - she uses palm sugar to make the peanut sauce. For the veggies, we have steamed bean sprouts, cabbage, spinach, green beans, tofu, and lontong (tightly packed rice in banana leaves, then steamed) or boiled chopped potatoes. Great to see an Indonesian recipe here!

Yum,yum, yum! Great flavor combination and the " formula"! I am used to making Thai peanut sauce but this is more complex.I use Laura Scudders chunky peanut butter (about only one that is totally natural and widely available) as a cheat as I always have it in the house along with Tempeh and Firm tofu and lots of veg.I am in LA and we have tons of different Asian sauces, seasonings, condiments available, a lot of which I have.I just never thought of putting everything together like this.Excited to try!
