Getting orders to your customers is a vital part of running your ecommerce business, and there’s a lot involved, from choosing product packaging to planning your ecommerce shipping strategy.

Your videos are always informative! One question: How do I ship packages via USPS First Class? My Shopify account only offers USPS Priority shipping. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ❤
Topics: “Warehouse Design”, “FDA Approved UPCs”, “How to offer discounts, match a market price, and still make margin” - Warehouse Requirements (insurance x5, OSHA, etc) - these were a few topics that came to mind as a store scales up.
Thank you so much Shopify, this content is absolutely great!
Hi Michelle,
First of all, I highly appreciate you and your team for putting in all these efforts in creating high quality and (more importantly) very helpful content.
I have a request for you. I'm Shopify store owner since about couple of months and I'm still struggling to set up all the Shopify Settings for my POD business store. I'd be so so grateful, if you can create a tutorial dedicated to Shopify Settings only (in context of POD business 😉☺️), and I'm sure it will be beneficial for many POD business beginners like me.
Awaiting for your positive response.
Thanks in advance!

Wonderfully relevant and succinct.
How about a video on ' cash flow management ' between a customer's order and when you the store owner actually gets paid ? This is never addressed yet can be a real hindrance to cash strapped startups who are strictly dripshippers via 3rd party fulfillment companies who must be paid prior to shipping to your customers . Thank you for the professional job you always do .
Thank you for another amazing video so helpful!
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much! I just subscribed!
Welcome!
This is great, thank you. And I was especially excited when you mentioned a downloadable shipping calculator, however, unless I'm missing something, there are no formulas in the spreadsheet. All of the values are static.
I cannot thank you enough for this video. After searching and viewing many other videos, I finally found the information I needed in a straight forward presentation.
So happy that this was helpful for you!

Hello! I'm new to Shopify and I'm struggling with the saved packages settings. How can I configure custom packages for different products? For example, I've saved small, medium, and large boxes, each for different types of products. However, it appears that Shopify uses the default package to calculate shipping weight and cost. Is there a way to assign specific packages to individual products so Shopify can factor that into the final weight? Let's say I sell small items that can be shipped in a 50 grams box, but other larger items need to be shipped in a 100 grams box. The default package is 50 grams, and it seems like that's the weight Shopify will use to calculate the cost of shipping.

My store does not have the option of print shipping label.
You need to add an option for products that have different shipping rules so that you have the choice to add the shipping costs together or to select just the higher price one. If we have a customer who places an order for products from different product ranges that have different shipping rules the current system adds them all up and charges the customer the total. A simple tick box on the back end to stop this and to just select the highest priced option should be simple to add and make the whole process a lot better.
Hi, Jennifer! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I've submitted your feedback to our developers!
Thanks for this video but if you have both a point of sale and a website, raising your prices to include shipping does not seen viable, any suggestion? And is there a little more in dept video tutorial available? Thanks
Hey, Clody. That's a great point! You certainly don't have to include your shipping prices within the product price. You can have separate shipping prices entirely. There's a ton of great information in our Shopify Help Document: bit.ly/3jI73MR. Please let us know if you have any questions about that.
Y’all. Is a 3cm by 3cm box too small to ship?
I have a question. If you’re doing Shopify shipping, and you pick a carrier like USPS for example, and you got your label and everything ready, do you still need to create an account with USPS for them to get the package?
Hi there, you shouldn't need to create an account though it's an option for those seeking additional features for their business. Here are some more details about Shopify Shipping and USPS. (bit.ly/3Bi0nxo).
Custom shipping rates for products: It seems like it adds the same shipping rate twice when they order 2 items from the same list og items that is inside this shopping rate. Are we doing something wrong?

Yes you are right I am in the right place..............
I have selected a few suppliers and products from them, but now, I need to figure out how to push the products to my store through the dropshipping process. Please advise. Thanks
Hey
Should we just offer Express shipping vs standard? For example my standard from my supplier is 12-15 days but my express is 3-8 days,
Should i just keep the option of express there for they get the producr much faster or will that turn off people because it will be more pricey, i have both standard and express on now but lots of abdan carts price different from standard to express would be 10-15$
What do you think, we want to move our brand to have the product to there house asap 🤔
What abour working with shopify fulfilment but printing the labels and buying them from outside shopify? For example, if you have an account on dhl for business rates etc. How will that work with shopify?
Hey, there! Thanks for reaching out.
You can definitley use your own carrier accounts to calculate shipping rates and purchase labels.
This would be referred to as third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates, and not necessarily Shopify Shipping (which uses Shopify's own carrier rates).
You would need to have Carrier Calculated Shipping enabled on your store which could be an extra monthly charge depending on your plan.
We have more information on this here - bit.ly/38RQHzd. Hope that helps!

I just upgrade my SHOPIFY plan but not seeing the different carrier just Canada post for do I get the other carrier on my website ?
Hi there! If you're using Shopify Shipping in Canada, Canada Post is currently the only carrier available, and you can read more about that here: bit.ly/3FKeZ9t. If you want to enable Third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates, which allows you to use your own account with a shipping carrier, you will need to contact Shopify Support directly via this link: bit.ly/3eNr2bD. You can read more about carrier-calculated shipping here: bit.ly/32waTUh. I hope this helps!
I get the error "Your order cannot be shipped to the selected address. Review your address to ensure it's correct and try again, or select a different address."
hey, guys is it possible to charge a custom shipping rate based on a set of conditions like: 5$ shipping fee for items between 0$ and 20$ and select one carrier for all orders? i would like shopify to route all orders to USPS.
Hi, Omer. This is definitely possible through price-based flat shipping rates. You can learn about that here bit.ly/3KzVTXa. Then when in your shipping settings make sure you only have USPS enabled and you: should be able to solve this: bit.ly/3pUYRMv. -Rio
Does Shopify provide shipping also
This was def the most helpful video on shipping so far but not clear enough unfortunately. I live in Sweden and want to ship within the EU and USA. First of all, in your example, what shopify plan are you using? I am set up as basic and i did exactly as you said and no carriers appear. Why? Do I need to upgrade the plan? I just think I must be doing something wrong or shopify is blocked for europe or something. help.
I believe this tool is for sellers located within the U.S.
Could you do a video on CZcams ads
I appreciate your videos. You can genuinely see the energy and support given.
My concern is Shopify is allow in the Caribbean ( Jamaica) but not Shopify payments. Now we could switch the country to USA ( for example) and start selling ( to the USA market). Is that ok? If and when sales reach taxable levels open an LLC?
Thanks for your kind words, Nicholas! We're glad to hear that you're enjoying these videos. If your business has a physical address in the USA, you can use that as your store address. Otherwise, you will need to stick with the payment providers available in your area. We appreciate your interest in using Shopify Payments, and will be sure to let our developers know that you'd like to see it available in Jamaica too.
@@learnwithshopify you're welcome. Keep shining. Thank you so much. Appreciate your quick reply
I just have a quick simple question here, let's say for example, someone purchases a product from my shopify store, would it automatically get sent to them or would i have to manually set it up from "Shipping and Delivery" in settings? Thank you.
Good question. This completely depends on how your business works. You can either ship the products yourself or use a third-party system to hold and fulfill your orders. If you don't have products already you can sell via dropshipping or print on demand to sell products that are fulfilled by third-party fulfillment systems. Were you already selling online or in-person? -Rio
I thought when someone placed an order on my site it would be automatically purchased and shipped. I'm a beginner so idk but if I have to manually handle each order isn't that a lot of work? why not automate
Hi there! That is definitely possible, depending on your fulfillment process. Please feel free to provide more insight into how you plan on fulfilling your orders. For example, do you intend to keep inventory and fulfill them yourself, or will you be using a third-party supplier?
How do I ship large items that are over around 100lbs? I am trying to ship electric bikes but it says it's too large to ship, but I see other competitors shipping electric bikes using shopify
Hi, Lucy! What shipping carrier are you using? It's true that different services will have different weight restrictions. You'll find more information and considerations for each one here: bit.ly/42Rpp3a. Let us know how we can help!
What happens if a package is lost or damage how to you report it ? Please
Hi! For merchants who use and purchase their shipping labels through Shopify Shipping, our live support team: shopify.link/qLKl can be contacted so that we can gather specific details about the lost or damaged package. Once all necessary evidence are collected, our team can then escalate the information and situation to our dedicated shipping team for review.
Hey, um not sure if your gonna anwser this but how would you send a product to the customer if your not actully holding the product. Like do I change to address to theirs from aliexpress???
Hey, Jerry! That is absolutely correct. If you use a dropshipping app, usually, it automatically adds the customer address to the AliExpress order. Do you use an app in your store?
@@learnwithshopify thank you so much for anwsering and yes im thinking about using dsers

Thanks for this video. I can't find the free download that goes with this video. It says it's not available/not found or error. Is there a new link?
Hi there. Glad you enjoyed the video. What free download link are you referring to? The description of the video has all the link useful regarding this video but more than happy to assist you further.
how do i change the 5-8 shipping speed seen by customers to 4-6
Hey there, thanks for dropping this question! If you are dropshipping it's important to check on the actual shipping options provided by your supplier to make sure what your customers see is accurate. Once you figure that out you can head to Settings > Shipping > Manage Rates and edit the titles of your rates to match what your supplier offers. I would recommend checking out our Help Guide on Shipping Settings bit.ly/3rWfnO4 but more importantly Oberlo's Shipping Settings for Dropshipping guide here bit.ly/3BrOZit I would love to hear about the dropshipping business you are looking to start!
The videos are very helpful. I have a question is there any way to link certain size packages to certain products. After entering all your packages dimensions it only let you use one of them as a default for all products and it doesn’t make any sense to me. Unless I’m missing something!!!
Hey, there. You can adjust the packages when purchasing shipping labels. However, the online store can only have one default package. That being said, if you need to calculate shipping rates for dimensional packages, then we'd recommend using something like Boxify bit.ly/3TI0fzP. Cheers!
@@learnwithshopify thank you so much for the quick response. I didn’t launch my store yet and I have the real time carrier rate calculations. So the calculations will be off I guess, so I have to keep that in mind so I either add little extra for the product or use the biggest size package I have as the default package and get the highest rate possible is that correct!!!
That is definitely a route you can take! Although, this could be overcharging customers for smaller items (if you're looking to set a higher rate for the biggest package size you have) and may affect the conversion rate. But if this is totally up to you! As mentioned above, you can also take a look at third party apps!
@@learnwithshopify I will check Boxify out. Thank you again
Michelle is so sweet 😄
Hi! I’m setting up my store and I will sell most of my products to US and international using general shipping profile with a flat rate under $75 order and free above that, HOWEVER I’m also selling a line of product that I want to ship to US only. So I created a custom profile and the shipping zone is set to US only but I don’t want to add a shipping rate or else it cumulated with my general shipping rate. But if I don’t add a rate to that custom “zone” profile then it says people won’t be able to buy that product. I don’t want shipping costs to cumulate for clients at checkout just because I have to restrict geographically one of the product in their cart. Can you please tell me how to solve this?
Hi, Lao! This is a known and intentional behaviour of the shipping profile functionality, where shipping rates from different profiles are added together and shown as a single rate on checkout. However, I definitely understand that this behaviour may not always be desirable for stores. The workaround for this would be to install a third-party shipping app, such as Advanced Shipping Rules: bit.ly/3ldsEhy or Parcelify: bit.ly/3E2dtiA, which would help resolve this issue.
I can understand your use case though and definitely see how useful this option would be if we added it natively onto our Shopify shipping settings. I'll pass on what you've shared here with me to our developers, so that they're aware of the demand of this type of feature. Let us know if we can help further!
Does Shopify have a way to calculate shipping rate based on a customer buying multiples of the same product?
Hey Leo, thanks for reaching out. That is a great question! Shopify does allow you to create your own shipping rates based on the weight or number of products that your customer is purchasing: shopify.link/2B56.
need a shipping sample template that we can use and modify for our needs. thank you
Hey, Tron! What kind of shipping template are you looking for specifically?
If it's for your shipping labels, we do have a free template available here: bit.ly/3jEieGK. You'll just have to fill in the information on that page, and a shipping label will then be created for you! From there, you can either print the label on sticker paper, or on regular paper to tape to your parcel.
Are you using our Shopify Shipping service by any chance? If you are, then you won't need a shipping label template as you can generate and print out a shipping label directly from your Shopify admin: bit.ly/37MJGzc.
What thermal printer do you recommend?
Hey, Jason! Here's a list of thermal printers we support and recommend: bit.ly/3Tnax89.
Hello! What if I need more than 1 box to ship the order? How will shopify know that to calculate for customer at checkout? Not all items will fit in one box most of the times.
Hi, Rebecca. Thanks for reaching out to us! I recommend looking into integrating a shipping app to add custom box sizes based on the product that has the ability to alert the system when an order will be shipped in multiple boxes. For multi-piece shipments, check out the app Shippo (bit.ly/3ksO4Kr) or ShipStation: bit.ly/3m4zaus. Additionally, you can also browse the Shopify App Store (bit.ly/3xQBGXE) for more shipping app options.
You can't get CCS unless you pay $299/Month!!??
What if I have some inventory at my house and I am sending my sister a free tshirt. Can I just print a label still. Cause all i get is " Can’t create shipping labels
The selected order is not eligible for shipping labels.
1 order doesn't have items that need fulfillment:"
It sounds like you might have the "This item doesn't require shipping" enabled on this product. Or order fulfillment is being done by a third party app or service. I am not able to confirm this through CZcams though. I do recommend contacting our authenticated support team, they should be able to resolve this with you.
But what if you have multiple "ship from" locations that have separate accounts for each carrier (say UPS)? Seems like we have have multiple locations for inventory management but not multiple locations grounded in warehouse addresses for carrier accounts.
Thanks for the question! Is this a situation that you're currently experiencing with your own business? Having multiple warehouses sounds like a very large operation, so having different carrier accounts linked to these different warehouse locations would be helpful, depending on the situation! One idea to get around that would be to have your multiple locations set up, and charge a flat shipping rate for products at those locations not linked to a carrier account within the admin of Shopify. From there, your warehouses would be collecting that flat amount, and using that amount to pay for the carrier shipping costs associated with them.
If this is something you're currently having issues with for your business, you should consider reaching out to our Live Team at this link, bit.ly/3c5icUc, so you can describe this situation to them, and so they can take a peek at your back-end and determine what sort of things we can do to help.
@@learnwithshopify Yes, it's a current barrier for our business and our shipping partner (which has negotiated rates with UPS at their various locations across the US). However, UPS accounts are all linked to the ship from address, and in order to get the best rates for customers (and for our backend billing), we would need to be able to link multiple UPS accounts so that fulfillment can flow through them and get the best rates for our customers (and our business). We don't want to do flat rates, and this still wouldn't solve the issue of the bills we would get from our shipping partner. We also have a shipping profile that grants customers who spend $25 or more free shipping. In one respect, it's not what's reflected to customers about the UPS accounts. It's what our shipping partner is going to bill us at the end of the month, and that's going to be determined by the best rates out of each locations from each separate UPS account. (NOTE: UPS accounts are linked to ship from addresses. Those are static parts of the accounts. It's confusing to me why Shopify would allow you to manage inventory at different locations but not allow you to list / select different rates from the same carrier for the same shipping service but based on the "ship from" account within UPS or any other carrier).
Thanks for following up! I can totally see how this would be an issue for your business, especially when it's your shipping partner with these negotiated rates. The ability to assign a specific carrier account to a specific location within the Admin would be ideal here, and you're correct when saying this isn't something that Shopify platform offers natively.
I did some digging through our product requests and noted that this type of functionality has been requested in the past, so it's on the radar of our Product Team. Looking into alternatives, or workarounds for this issue, I could an application called 'Multi Carrier Shipping Label', which you can access at this link: bit.ly/395BVF8. This application appears to be able to achieve this functionality, but I recommend reaching out to the app developer specifically to see if this application would be a good fit. Considering that this application is also a paid-for product, reaching out to it's development team, known as PluginHive, would be a good step to take before paying for anything.
I'm going to add our conversation here to the list of product requests, so you can rest assured that your feedback on this topic has been noted and will be seen by the appropriate team.
Good video. Can a USA shopify seller send their goods from China? Can shopify website show a Chinese express company's logistic information ?
Im havg trouble assigning package sizes to each product. For example, one of my items is shipped in a small padded envelope while another is shipped in a large 26” box. I want to use the calculate shippg option bc if a customer in CA purchases vs NY the $ rate is very different. Please can you advise? Ive watchd so many of these videos and seem to be missg this detail.
Hey there, Angie. Shipping products and packages of various sizes can make setting up your shipping rates a challenge, but there are third-party apps that can help you with this if you wish to use live rates at checkout. I would recommend checking out Boxify: bit.ly/3pdUR9C. This is an app that allows you to assign different packages to your products, which can help you offer more accurate shipping rates to your customers and have more control over your shipping in general.
Thank you SO much for your help!
What about products using dsers? this only covers products you already have
Hi, Joseph. Just to confirm, you're inquiring about how to fulfill and ship orders with products using DSers? DSers automatically updates the order and moves the order to the fulfilled tab with the tracking number. We've got more information on the fulfillment process in this DSers resource here (bit.ly/3NuOeei) and how to set shipping methods for your products here: bit.ly/3sRGQjI.
