    100th video!!!
On an absolutely beautiful Saturday during the last weekend of June, Robert's Rail Productions and I trekked up to Phillipsburg, NJ, home of a multitude of fallen flags, such as the Central Railroad of New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley Railroad. We came to revisit our old friend, NYS&W 2-8-2 #142. Today, she was pulling a 5 car passenger train to Pincher's Point, approximately 7 miles south of Phillipsburg, and would then shove back to Phillipsburg. Today, she is wearing a Western Locomotive Supply Company (WLSCo) 5 chime for a whistle. Not only that, but the experienced and generous crew allowed us to visit some parts of the line that are not normally available for public visiting, in lieu of the first Blue Comet Productions photo charter being held in partnership with the Delaware River Railroad Excursions. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds that are New York, Susquehanna & Western #142 in this 100th video special brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!

I got to be in the cab of a steam engine a few years back and I have to agree with whoever said this "Of all the machines mankind has ever mind the steam engine was the only one to ever have a soul."

I always thought the 142 ran with a generally clean stack.

    I am NOT a foamer.

Seriously? You really must be a foamer if you think that certain locomotives just "Run with a clean stack". The locomotive has nothing to do with that. Maybe it drafts better than other locomotives but clean stacks have to do with coal quality, how hot the fire is, if the fire was just stoked up and the fireman himself.

I was the fireman that day. The year this was shot we had some really shitty quality coal, it was mostly slack junk. We stopped using it after that year. It was hot stuff however it would light off like gasoline and then go right out. Thanks for sticking up for us bud, against the know it all whackjobs that would make such a dumb comment.
