  • Rommel Napoles and Germaine Juan represents Philippines for Farrington High School's 2018 Annual Founders Day Cultural Celebration at the Kitamura Gym on the night of May 4, 2018. Along with students from Farrington High School's Filipino-American Club, Philippines showcases its culture through a heart-stopping performance of Lapay Bantingue and Sayaw Sa Bangko. Farrington High School is located in the neighborhood of Kalihi in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Kalihi is a multi-ethnic working-class neighborhood and has one of the highest Filipino populations in Hawaiʻi.
Lapay Bantingue is a dance that originates from Barangay Bantigue, Masbate. Sayaw Sa Bangko originates from Pangasinan province.
The Annual Founders Day at Farrington High School is commonly referred to as May Day, in which schools across Hawaiʻi showcase their school's multiculturalism through a series of performances from different cultures. Farrington High School has a daytime performance exclusively for students during a rally and another performance at nighttime, where community members are invited to watch.
Performers: Rommel Napoles, Germaine Juan, Geraldine Agulay, Eugene Ribao, Arriane Gala, Christian Hermoso, Gwyneth Alicias, Jhanimine Lacar, Czarina Lazo, Paula Saladino, Angelica Fajardo, Dominic Arzadon, Elarie Ranido, Glimpse Maneja, Kimeryn Zorina, Helen Viloan, Sharmaine Pineda, William Academia, Charleigh Viernes, Mark Dalere.
Choreographed by Norman Sales, Filipino-American Club advisor at Farrington High School.

Wow, you guys were all amazing, such impressive performers!! Especially to the main couple, I was honestly scared for the both of you yet you're both so brave! i'm glad you guys wore the proper dress/outfit of the dance!! Although I'm Filipino, I was born and raised in a foreign country, this was my first time discovering our culture's one of many Filipino dances! I'm so proud and so thankful for showing this dance to the world! 😊💗💖
