A good chunk of these web sitting spider vs videos likely involve the eventual loser being thrown into their web. Also, there's probably at least a couple where the loser likely would have gotten away to live another day, only to 'suddenly come back'. Yeah... I feel like they were made to come back because we can't have any sort of Draw with one of the bugs escaping instead of fighting to the death. Hell, part of me wonders if any of these lead up 'victims' are set up to show one or both contenders' capabilities. A cricket that landed in a spider's video in one video looked like it may have been thrown/ tossed at the web.

Sure there is a difference in size, but it is all about the strike in this fight. Mantids have wickedly good first strike accuracy against any size opponent, their eyesight and speed help this.
Just look up mantid vs mouse or lizard where they are the smaller of the match. The very fact that they win ANY percentage of time vs a larger opponent speaks volumes about their strike accuracy.
Being good with sizing up prey and timing when the prey is in strike zone also keeps that accuracy up.
Hell, they even get good strikes on cats! Never seen a cat more frustrated then when they get struck by one and it clings to them, so entertaining.

I definitely love how the Mossy Mantis becomes the silent type of insect that blends right with the rest of the Mossy Trees and plants like Swamp Thing because it gives that kind of swampy look to him when it quickly strikes at his prey when they don't know the predatorial danger the other bugs are in until it's too late 😁😃😛❤❤❤❤ lol
