Blackmagic are the absolute chads of the cinema camera industry. The fact that they make 1000-6000$ cameras whose main competitor is 30k-100k$ cameras is market defining. 4k raw, 6k raw and 12k raw at cheaper than anyone else is doing it with great color science. I got a Canon R8 recently because i think its honestly the best value hybrid shooter money can buy right now, but if blackmagic did stills well, I'd be buying from them.

Stoked to see what you create with the new camera. I just shot a feature on my FX3 and absolutely love it. Gear matters, to an extent, but the most important thing is to use what makes sense to you.
BMPCC4K still going strong for me! Takes a little extra elbow grease & lighting care to pull out images closer to the 6K/6Pro though. The look these line of cameras produce can be so timeless for films when used right. Any camera you choose you’d kill it I’m convinced!

That’s sick bro! Congrats on your Doc. I see you being a game changing cinematographer. I figured you would’ve went for the Blackmagic over a RED or an Arri, that price point is crazy value. Shiiii bro having both the fx3 & blackmagic 6k pro gives you versatility. I’ve seen folks use both in tandem for certain shots.
Congrats, man. It’s a great camera. I’ve been using mine since like September and haven’t really had a chance to work on any short films or anything, but for my interview shoots and other small things I play around with, it has been awesome.

had them all - fx3 / fx6 / c70 / s1 - bmp6K pro has the best image hands down

Bruh...With every new camera we all run out of excuses LOL. The 'pro' is solid. Did you get a davinci license? Insane value for that camera. Congrats on starting your doc! I start my very first one next week. I'm using the XH2s and Komodo X. Some XT5 for adding photos and b-cam. Stay safe man!

definitely a great camera for on the run creatives, filmmaking or documentaries and Blackmagic has that cinematic quality.. I've been shooting on Blackmagics since about 2015.. I finally just went out an grabbed a RED.. its not as fast when it comes to shooting like the Blackmagic but I love the image quality I'm getting now

I had one of these and sold it. Beautiful quality, easy files to manipulate. YET - no autofocus. WHICH is not needed for "professionals" right? But I found that with my shooting style the Sony A7iv was the best option for me! I miss it sometimes but I love my A7iv 🤣Great video Vuhlandes! Superb as always !!!!
I'm so extremely happy that a successful CZcamsr and filmmaker like yourself that also uses an FX3, and could probably buy any camera he wants purchased this amazing camera and understands the benefits of it. The pocket 6k and 4K series of cameras are so amazing and professional, and many people trash them because they don't have AF or IBIS. But you understand what this camera can give you and how it's not just about AF, and that manual focus matters. Thank you
Yeah I think people who trash this camera because it’s “big” or the battery life is terrible or autofocus or a lil floppy screen or anything else are valid in their reasoning but they might be looking at it from a different standpoint than me. None of that actually matters especially when you look at cameras like the Alexa mini which is also all of those things like the blackmagic 6k but people look at this camera from a standpoint of how quick and easy can I use it for CZcams videos. I appreciate you understanding.
@@vuhlandes Agreed. The Fx3 is amazing and is very versatile. But as you say in the video, every camera is great today.
i begin to notice a lot of people here who harshly criticize a camera or cinema camera based on AF/IBIS or lack there of are mostly casual content creators who are not doing anything beyond the normal content they record.
I also notice a lot of movies, music videos etc. most cameras in these situations are recorded using manual focus since manual gives you 100% control as opposed to an AF hunting potentially missing up a critical moment in recording especially say if its a wedding ceremony.
@@vuhlandes yo what if you wanted to get a shot from a moving vehicle? seems to me like the rolling shutter would be terrible. AF/IBIS is useless for cinema cameras but good rolling shutter performance is essential. the xh2s does a better job at this.

I want to become a CZcamsr and a filmmaker and will soon be heading off to community college to learn more on film and build a portfolio. So far I’ve been using my iPhone 15 pro max for videos but watching your videos and others has made me want to invest into a camera. Love your videos my guy 🔥💪🏾

Yup! I've had mine for a while now and have the same camera/lens combo as you and bought it for a lot of the same reasons. Best camera on the market in terms of value/price point.

Tip for ND filters on the FX3. There's "throttle" adapters for different mirrorless mounts means the adapter has built in NDs. So you can get EF to E throttle adapters so you can have a similar "built in" ND solution. Its way better than fumbling around a bunch of screw on NDs. Just make sure you bring regular adapters too for low light scenarios

I guess it all depends on glass as well. EF mount has huge advantages - for someone with a lot of great EF glass. But not all great options, especially newer options can be adapted to EF mount. Amazing camera for sure. What lenses do you use with it?

Its just so easy to get it right. Braw is dope, camera is chunky which makes it easier to keep stable, tons of ef lens. Winner. I paid more for one RF lens than my BM.

I just stared using the Black Magic 6K. The colors are awesome. I never colored in BRAW before. But started to get it down.

Black Magic 6K pro owner here…and honestly I wish I had the FX3…it’s smaller, has stabilization and autofocus which would be so clutch for gimbal work. The 6K pro when fully rigged up with a cage, V-mount battery because of its abysmal battery life, and follow focus on rails ends up being a lot of weight. Especially with the Sigma 18-35 which is a great starter lens
as someone who has used both, the FX3 wins hands down. the black magic is just way to cumbersome and makes filming not easy and fluid. i agree with everything you said haha
But alas, the image you get from the 6K pro is still some of the best. And color grading is so much fun too. If black magic design can make 6K pro image quality into a smaller form factor with some stabilization features they would be king
Forsure, definitely some good points. But I’m not worried about any of those things. I don’t care about size and weight I also don’t do much gimbal work if any and if I wanted to throw it on a gimbal it could work. Again, the cameras I’ve been using like the Alexa mini and other large cinema cameras are just…. Big. It is what it is. Most of the time I plan on using the camera on “set” anyway so those things didn’t matter to me when making my decision. How ever , all the things the fx3 lacks was enough reason to use something different

Blackmagic's aren't really run and gun cameras and I feel like a lot of CZcamsrs should be upfront about that info. They're amazing cameras if you're shooting in controlled environments or with a crew

Doesn’t the blackmagic have really slow rolling shutter/sensor readout speed? I noticed you did static shots only lol. Probably pretty choppy panning laterally handheld
