    Great video as I had just bought a 3k mile f750 gs with the center stand still in its wrapper but no instructions, I see why the guyI purchased the bike from never fitted it. with the reduction in ground clearance, I think I will wait a while and see how and where I ride out. And that knowledge is all due to watching your video Thanks

      Enjoy the new bike. This does take away some ground clearance. I'd advise the same, not to install until you're sure you don't need the clearance.

    Thanks for creating this video. I just brought home a 2020 750GS and was searching for an aftermarket Center Stand.
    One question...I see you have a kickstand enlarger. I looked at the Givi one and they specifically said it would not fit the 750GS Low. Which one are you using? Thank you in advance!

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Před 4 lety +1

      That’s probably because their model rises the bike too much. Risers can be a problem on low bikes sine they don’t lean much. This is the AltRider one. This and Touratech’s don’t have a huge impact on the low model.

      Adam Chandler appreciate the reply. I put an order in for the same centerstand and will look for the altrider kickstand foot enlarger.

    i put a f800gs stand on my f700gs, i haven't been able to get it on the center stand yet, and thinking maybe its harder because of the lower suspension and smaller front wheel, is this a possibility or should I be able to get it on the stand alone?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Před rokem

      Correct. Low bikes are very hard to get onto a center stand. I think the low model F750GS didn’t come with a center stand for 2 reasons. Safety (the center stand hangs very low and can catch on speed bumps) and usability (very hard to deploy because the bike is low) It’s a basic geometry issue.

    Mike here, also from NH. I am considering this for my white version of same bike to make maintenance easier/safer. Your videos have been inspiring. Any updates on bottom outs on curbs, speedbumps, dirt roads with some washout sections? I still have the big exhaust resonator, so this looks like designed to fit below that.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mike and thank you for watching! I've ridden heather's bike around and I'm a lot heavier than her so the suspension sags a bit more and I have yet to scrape the center stand or drag it but this bike does not leave pavement so it's a different use case than my big GSA which is raised above stock height and still grabs the center stand. It sits low but it's totally fine for road-touring...and it makes maintenance a LOT easier! I'm not sure I'd do any washout/ruts/dirt/water crossings with this on an F750GS Low. it'd be too low. and your'e correct it does work with the OEM resonator. I have an old video of a low F700 with us off-road and lots of bottoming out. Best moments are 7-20 minutes - czcams.com/video/aOwExKBEAug/video.html

      @@AdamChandler86 Thanks...That old vid was fun to watch. That road is definitely way more "billy goat" than anything I have plans for, but of course when you are exploring an unpaved, you never know when you might hit at least a section of washout. I am a big believer in being able to reach the ground with at least half of each foot, hence the choice of the low setup that the previous owner bought it with was fine by me. I like the lighter weight of this ride compared with my 100+Kg heavier antique Goldwing that I use for two up riding, and I could see how the folks with the 1200GS' were struggling with the weight when they went down.on the tougher spots. I think before I go for the center stand, I will see if the 2x4 under the swing arm tilt is good enough for faster chain maintenance. My front tire bike rack should be good enough for other maintenance things that dont involved removing a wheel.

      Hi Adam. Well this year I finally put one on my bike. I saw Heathers bike in the truck when they brought mine back from service so I took a look the stand while mine was being unloaded. I saw your picture to help with the torques. Did you end up replacing that giant bolt? If so where did you order it from. I did not know it was supposed to be replaced. I need to buy a bigger torgue wrench. I put 90ftlbs on the old one, but didnt seem as tight as when it came of.

  • @andrewsheltraphotography1820

    Thanks Adam! I have a new GS too and mine is the low-suspension as well.

      @@AdamChandler86 I don't plan on trail riding, but the lowered clearance with it looks a bit concerning to me, as I would hate to scrap it going into a sharp corner or over speedbumps, etc. BTW, I see the NH plate. I am right next door in VT. :)

    Hi Adam, Isn't it hard to put up? I have a factory low with a generic center stand. The problem is, I think the stand is too long and it is impossible be put up by a single person, can you do me a favor and measure how long is the stand from the pivot point? Thanks a lot!

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Před rokem +1

      It's hard than my R1200GS center stand that's for sure but if you are like me (probably not) and weight 250 pounds, you can stand on the center stand foot pad and just put your weight on it and up it goes! My wife is off on a trip this weekend so I can't measure at the moment. I'm sorry. But this was the part specifically for the F750GS low so maybe you got a longer one?
