I did Route 37 north but didn't head to Stewart. I had to get up to Whitehorse in one day so just didn't make time but 37 was totally empty and had some awesome scenery.

Overwhelmingly beautiful. There are parts of this world that make me feel so small. Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, the Swiss Alps. This was one of those places.

The scenery continues to get better. I'm now on day 14 and about to head south to Banff / Jasper / Glacier NP. Going to be a gorgeous week of riding.

It's honestly the sign of a great ride. Happened to me a few days ago on a BDR. New off road riders freak out but that's just GS things.

​@@AdamChandler86 Oh, absolutely. It's actually a feature. It's to let our fellow GS riders nearby know that we took a tumble but all is well and we're and up and running again. 😄

I didn't Know there was a Jacks in NH. I honestly thought it was just a west coast thing.

Kid literally was waiting while I was still sitting on it and said "mom, why is a man riding the kid's ride?" LOL

YEP! Super wide angle and it's really hard to get that sensory experience of the wind, traffic, noise and bridge size. Astoria was beautiful.

Congrats. Great deal on an awesome bike. They're timeless and are going to be classics in a couple of decades. I can see these being the last of a kind of bike that can't be built in 20 years when emissions and electrification ruin this.

It wasn't open but they sell you Membership card for $5. Really wanted one.

Good to know. Fires are horrible but we just have to acknowledge they happen whether we're here or not and with population growth, these fires are having a bigger impact.

Well, you're doing the more important job, that's for sure and sadly the critical jobs we rely on to keep us safe are often the least rewarded. I'm sitting in a suit in an office building getting all of this time off and there are medical and EMS folks working 80 hour weeks and completely understaffed. Thanks for keeping us all safe and serving your community.

Shots fired for sure but a good cabot clothbound and a maple creamee can't be beat.

It's been on my bucket list for years. My side-hobby is beer-rating (over 6,000) and I have had a few of their beers shipped to me from Oregon but never fresh at the source. It's a shame DeGarde was closed this day.

Oh man, that was super dicey!!!! I feel really proud to have kept the bike upright as long as I did. I was doing like 50 MPH for a while and finally thought "I'm going to break my leg if I keep doing this" then I dropped it then walked it a mile but in retrospect, I'm glad I did. Glad you're okay!

I need a full time tech engineer I think. Just filled up my 3rd, 512GB SD Card and may need to buy an SSD for my laptop since I want to keep all original files in case I want to edit a compilation.

Thanks Kyle! It's a long ride, gotta keep healthy and not push myself. Every day is a new chance for something to go right or wrong. I've been lucky so far and it's been a fantastic trip overall.

Literally freezing. I wanted so hard to do the BDRs up to the border but so many roads are closed, snow, ice, sigh.

Safe travels to the rally. It seems like Spring doesn't want to end then up here in Alaska, it's a heat wave of 80 degrees.

Yeah, no bueno. Took about a week to really heal.

So close! It was a perfect camping spot though and honestly on a Saturday night, not that busy.

@@AdamChandler86 I would second the suggestion for riding all the way up US-101. You should put it on your bucket list. It's too bad you didn't ride over to Florence and then up the Coast. Because you missed the best part of the Oregon Coast. Also I wouldn't pay $50 for camping on the Coast. Just ride up one of the forest roads, and look for a clearing big enough for your bike and tent to stealth camp camp on.

Thanks Max, there's always next time. I could obviously spend weeks in Oregon and not see many of the Best places. But I do keep a spreadsheet of rides people suggest for future trips.

It's slow as hell and you really have no margin for error on any of the terrain. It'd be nice to just float over the rocks but then if you get off your line and into a rut, you could go down really fast.

I did get some recovery. The boots are great and well supportive but I've been playing it a bit safer since then. I do one big trip every summer but nothing this big. I skipped last year since my wife was pregnant and I had just started a new job. 2023's was Michigan's UP and in the past, NEBDR / Newfoundland / Labrador. Next year will probably be the Trans-Taiga highway.

After 2 weeks now on it, I'm pretty over it. It's so not satisfying compared to mint.

I got to the hotel freezing cold. Shame I couldnt' camp out there but it was literally freezing out overnight.

It was a ton of fun. I really wish it had not snowed and dropped below freezing that night. then snow closed much of WABDR, too which messed up my plans of doing OR / WA back to back.

Mine is pretty tall. It's the National Cycle VStream Touring Deluxe and it's at the low setting 99% of the time. I once had a Puig on but returned it after getting it tinted and realizing that wasn't very interesting.

That's very crazy. I'd put everything back together and have a dealer fix the issue.

You'll need a GS-911 hardware kit to do that or take it to a dealer and they can do it for a fee.

My issues are all related to big heavy cruisers...it's big and heavy :P I loved the bike and it fit me fine with a same size as you.

I agree but I think they should roll out backlighting to all of the premium touring bikes. It's long overdue.

@@AdamChandler86 Sure, I saw an interview with a high BMW responsible where a journalist told him that it's not acceptable that in 2024 you come with the new GS 1300 with the same commands that you used 20 years ago, would u do the same with the upcoming Adventure model, and the response as always was: we have that in mind!!! It's crazy to cut a few Euro's on things like that, or not to invest in the laggy and buggy vintage BMW software who can be fixed VS a few hundred dollars just by a freelance from SDK developers or else....

I've loved playing with it. It was truly a super computer back in the day.

It's still tight like if you have some oil on it or on your hands, it can be hard to thread it just because you really can't see what you're doing. It will clear the cross-member but it's tight. There's another option out there that is a valve you can open / close but I was worried any thing hanging down from the oil pan would get hit or dinged and break and cause more damage.
