just knowing that Thom Yorke is somewhere in the world making tea or toast or checking his hair or wandering around in his underpants makes me feel so happy. Don't ever die Thom. You're too fucking special.
Crazy that this comment is 9 years old and yet the same thing is still happening. I hope this notification reminded you of this comment, still love radiohead after all these years?
Im playing their songs on guitar every night. First on acoustic(and its sounds awesome), when i started playing guitar a year ago. Now i got a telecaster for my birthday, and i relearned them for it(parts on electric guitar). As a beginer guitarist nice dream, was one of the first songs i learned. I love them
Dispondent in what context? If life get me down, radiohead is a nice option, i also though, go conect with nature in some way, feed the birds, and get out into the good air... nature is where you belong and you'll feel good contributing to what is your natural home.. Im guessing your worry comes from things you cannot control or from some superficial place.. learn to identify with what your worries are base on and learn to let things that you could never control... let em go..freedom lies with letting it all go... and using your intuition to guide you
You know you have come across a timeless piece of art when it keeps on making you feel goosebumps year after year, no matter how many times you hear it. This song is subliminal.
They love me like I was their brother They protect me Listen to me They dug me my very own garden Gave me sunshine Made me happy Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream I call up my friend the good angel But she's out with Her answer-phone She says she'd love to come help but The sea would Electrocute us all Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream, if you think that you're strong enough Nice dream, if you think you belong enough Nice dream, if you think that you're strong enough Nice dream, if you think you belong enough Now come home Now come home Now come home Now come home Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream Nice dream
I remember watching this video when I was high and naturally, everything appeared slow and more intense and enhanced. I loved the way he moves his head while singing, it felt so human to me at the time when every other thing felt so mechanical. And the song is phenomenal, it reminds me of my childhood which is as vivid as a nice dream :)
I can kinda understand why TY looks back at himself in this period and cringes, but I think he was equally awesome when he was dying his hair blonde to when he was dancing around to Lotus Flower, he's just (no pun intended) an awesome guy
At one point in the My Iron Lung song period he had blond hair but was longer and straight and he looked like the way Japanese youth were doing their hair at the time. He looke like a Japanese youth. Go check out the video for My Iron Lung. Its concert footage but I believe theyre playing the album over it.
thom york makes me want to close my eyes. to see nothing and feel nothing but the music. two spirits intertwined and wrapped in a dark and enchanting solitude.
if you havent seen radiohead live you must, the passion and emotion in EVERY performance is unparalleled. Chills every time I see them, and I'll admit tears too when they play fake plastic trees. Can't find a better live show!
I remember when I was 16 - 17 years old, and MTV was playing great music, and then I' ve gotten up in the morning to watch video clips of great songs. Then, later I' ve listened to Radiohead The Bends album while playing computer games, and back then, I did not really understand the lyrics, but the voice of Thom Yorke deeply touched me (also back then, I did not know his name, either). Also listened to U2 - Zooropa, Queen - Best Of Compilations, and Radiohead Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication. I consider Thom Yorke' s voice among the TOP 10 emotional male voices I' ve ever heard. Back then, even mainstream music was great. Surely, even today, you can find lots of great underground/non-mainstream artists/bands of rock, alternative, metal and other genres, but those days were magical because it was like borrowing CDs from friends, and share the love of music at concerts, without cameras, photomachines. I kinda feel a bit sad for today' s generation, for they never know the struggle of waiting for a CD to be released, as you can get everything illegally quickly. I' m no saint, and surely downloading music illegally at first, but then if I like it, I also get it from webshop, or get a T-Shirt/some merch. There was talent in mainstream music, not mostly autotune, like today. This is why today, I listen to old mainstream music and older and current great underground music of metal, rock, alternative, ambient, neoclassical, atmospheric, post-rock and some pop-rock, new age.
I just wanna cry with this song. It just fucking reminds me of my problems in life. No offense I love this song, I mean it makes me to cry and empty myself of everything that has been going on my life. His voice is soooo incredibly haunting
Man I have played piano my whole life and picked up guitar a few years back. This guitar/vocal performance is legendary. The way he accents his music is pure talent. Allot of peopel say Johnny greenwood is the genious of radiohead but I am willing to bet Thom is the structure to the whole band.
So talented. Great voice textures. Superb 12 string accents. This guy is amazing! Gotta love the banging on the windows after that, and the sly smile acknowledgment.
I love how Radiohead is just one of the most dramatic acts to ever be, their work has evolved much over the years but has always been just very emotional stuff. I don’t live in this kind of music but when I listen to their discography it’s so moving
This performance produces in me two types of emotions;on the one hand the perfection and masterful display of talent by Thom makes me remember how devastatingly beautiful the world can be at times (ie every time Radiohead's music finds me in solitude), on the other hand this song invokes an almost unbearable sentiment of sadness and fragility, to the point that listening it more than once is masochistic. But well, better pain than obliquity.
This song makes me think of all the songs and tunes I’ve ever come up throughout my entire life of nearly seventeen years, and how from just being busy in life or feeling that they weren’t good meant I’ve thrown ninety-nine percent away
IMO this is one of the most impressive and powerful Radiohead songs. The message is kind of optimistic : when all the people you rely on on are missing, you can still hold on to your nice dreams :)
You've missed the point entirely. The song is about how he thought he had friends, he thought they loved him, he thought his 'good angel' would always be there for him, but he was wrong, it was just a nice dream. The song is ridiculously sad, as is often the case with radiohead.

The lyrics- "They love me like I was a brother, they protect me, listen to me. They dug me my very own garden, gave me sunshine, made me happy. NICE DREAM!" It was fake. The good angel would "love to come help"... but she makes ridiculous excuses why she can't come help. Just like people who you think are your friends, but then when you need them, they are nowhere to be found.
I'm SO happy (the irony!) to hear this version: Nice Dream and I go back many years so I'm broken and got chills listening to it. Think I got damp eyes towards the end too. :O Thanks.

Beautifully said.
when I was a young teen it was their first album. Pablo Honey. Its an album you can crawl inside of and feel depressed and enjoy it. So nice.

Totally agree. Alone in the living room with red whine and radiohead. Nothing else!
he looks like a song
I have never seen someone playing guitar the way he does. He is music. Music goes through him. Extraordinary.
Thom is so, so beautiful, as is that voice. *SIGH* The depth of emotion while he sings just brings me to tears.
Saw your comment again
It fuckin does get better.. ever heard of Radiohead?
That's why no one can compare to Radiohead , they are untouchable in a field of their own
oh no you again
His eye defect makes him look more unique and special.
Like a fine wine, Radiohead songs just get better the older they get.
He plays this so well you can almost hear the other instruments in the background. Amazing.
