- The drama, the intensity, and the Football Manager-ness of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar are on full display, as we simulated the whole qualifying cycle and then the tournament itself. There were some surprise inclusions in the Qatar World Cup when we let FM actually handle the qualifying, but the real insanity happened once the teams were actually selected. The live sports simulations on FM simply never disappoint.
I enjoy these a ton, but they are just one simulation, the huge analytics simulation is coming once the real-life World Cup field is set in June. Those pesky qualifiers are delaying our FM simulation team for the moment. I promise though, we will do 100 simulations and give you all the answers you need. For now though, living the tournament in our alternate universe on the FM live sports save is the best we can get. I will take it, personally.

I don’t see it as much with England. Man Utd are AWFUL in real life, but England are a definite top 4 international team, with a very young core coming through that is arguably better than the current team.

I do agree that it annoys me how dominant England are in FM, and have been for genuinely 20 years.
It’s only in recent years that it has started to be a bit more realistic.
The point I was making is that it’s quite possible they could be one of the dominant teams in the next few tournaments.
Man Utd constantly dominating from the very beginning on FM is a joke though. They haven’t been a top team for almost 10 years, and are arguably going backwards.

The only one that triggered me was, Ronaldo has been rated with half the ability of Messi, I was close to sending in a formal complaint to FM.

That Portugal-Korea is actually so believable. Portugal plays down to the level of their oposition a lot. It would be the most Portugal thing ever to struggle so much to beat korea.
Fernando Santos manages to have a world class team that plays like a championship team vs a premier league side

Portugal have always had results like that in them... I remember sitting down for some revision for an exam and having a stream of Portugal v Cyprus in the background.

@@clipse_ They had incredibly lucky runs, they essentially lost to every real good team they came up against. Only good team they beat is Germany which they are not in a good moment.

You can tell this is a computer game when 3 Man Utd defenders are on the winning side of a cup final. It’s actually embarrassing how OP United and their players continue to be on FM.
England is allways OP in FM..
And Denmark is underpowered. Not even qualifying in this simulation when they were the best team in the european qualification in real life.

@@croissantpower none of the groups were difficult… there were at max 2 big nations in each. Id argue we got one of the more difficult one as Scotland Israel and austria all are capable teams

Besides they won the copa america last year with a side built around messi as the focal point. he played 90 mins on every single games. 7 games in a space of 3 weeks. And he wasn’t subbed even for a minute. So no its not happening unless he gets injured during a match.

It always amazes me how nerfed brazil is in this simulations while england is suddenly a not crap team.
This is amazing. I used to do do exactly this on Sensible Soccer back in the day, writing down the results, working out the tables and setting up the knock-out stages. What a blast from my past, thanks Z!! :D
Great video. One thing that affects the international tournaments in FM is fitness, by the semi-finals or final, players are tired and some even if they play well don't make the pitch. For example Grealish in this sim.

Honestly England is OP in Football Manager games even though in the real world they are certainly not one of the absolute best teams ever. Although I have really noticed a lot of the time, the actual good South American teams typically don't make it very far in the knockout stages on FM despite the fact that Argentina and Brazil have probably made more semi finals in World Cups than a lot of European nations have.
