I've wanted a lizard for 7 years, finally my mom let me get one. First we got a long tail lizard, sadly died of a heart attack or so. Then we got my leopard gecko! And im very pleased with her! She is now my best friend, and is amazing to the family!! We love her very much and wish she was a giant teddy bear so we could hug and squeeze her without hurting her (Sadly we can't lol). Lizards are amazing! And I would toads get more in the future. :)

Do you mean clean the actuall geco like washing it or remove all of the substrait..!?!? I was thinking of getting one but my dad says i have to get two or else they get lonely. I have also heard about leopard geckos fighting when in pairs is this true or can you have them in pairs...

Terminate the infidels
First thing to do is start off with asking for a HUGE out of range lizard. Keep begging and asking. Obviously the parents will say no to something out of range, whether space or price. After a few days or more of begging and doing as much as possible to prove yourself, say to them: "Ok, then can I just get a small gecko instead?" Being that the parents would be tired of being repeatedly asked for a HUGE lizard, they are likely to accept. Hopefully this worked because it worked with me. I'm getting my Leo on October 22 2017. Good luck!
Worst case, when you move out you can do whatever you want. My mom doesn't like pets in general and so I can only now finally get one now that I'm in my early 20s and am moving out.

I got my gecko a couple of weeks back She´s called Lilly and she apparently loves small cramped spaces :D I created a couple of hides for he, but she just mostly hides in a crack at the top of the back wall :D Also, about the crickets, for water I give them a little bottle cup filled with cotton-wool that is wet - they cant drow, and they drink from it. and for food, appart from fruits, I give them stuff that I mix, its basically powdered milk and crushed biscuits (the non sugary ones) mixed 1:1 they seem to like it, and it doesnt rot, so I can keep it there for longer if I go on holiday.

Luke Luther Hey, thanks! Well most of my videos go more indepth about certain aspects of looking after a gecko. I think if i did all those things the video would be so long :') but i did do a basic guide, its really old now , and i did a setup for under £35 and one for under £80, that has a list on things to buy :) hope they help!
Excellent videos. I usually do tons of research BEFORE getting a pet, but I saw him, and loved him instantly.
Now I am doing LOTS of research because I bought him. The pet shop only gave me partial information.
I appreciate your videos a lot. I can tell you really care for them. I think that's an important thing to look for in animal Care videos and literature. Obviously I will look at other sources of information as well, but I appreciate the indepth break down of how you care for your Leopard geckos.

Hi, no problem :) glad you liked it.
Some people do use paper towel/newspaper, I used paper towel for my youngest gecko, until he was approx. 2 months old, then I added eco earth. I would suggest crickets, they may require a little more attention than mealworms, but they are much more beneficial for your geckos.

They almost said yes to the leopard gecko but then they realized that it lives for 20 years and they said that that was two much and i can get my own when I live alone. My mom is maybe considering getting me an anole but my dad keeps on saying no lizards but well see. I will also only get one if we get a new house because our house is really small. So maybe in a few years :)

We got Oscar 2 weeks ago and he is a sweet delicate Gecko.He gets out at 6:20 and waits outside his cave. My son is taking him out gently and he seems to get used to it. He has a heat mat under his cave and although we live in a hot country, we put the heat on and it gets 26C.
Your videos help a lot and we are watching them and admire you from afar.

I think I was your age when I first wanted one, annoyingly my parents made me wait another three years until I was allowed one. However it did make one more, and gave me time to save up all the money and really read up about them. I don't think you're too young though.

Also ideally you have to wait til your female is 1 1/2 to 2 years old and a decent weight before breeding.

Hello, Yes they can live in them their whole lives, however one of my geckos got too big for it, that's why I bought him a viv, so if you buy a gecko from a breeder, it'll be a good idea to ask how big it's parents are.
I use a 6 X 11" heat mat (7 watts).

20 gallons is great for an adult but too big for a baby. I'm not sure if a leopard gecko is the best pet for a five year old, they cannot be grabbed by the tail or it will fall off
he's not going to handle the gecko. I'll be handling the gecko til he get older
You don't need to be so rude! I agree, there's no size limit for ADULTS, but babies tend to stray from their heat source in larger tanks so a 5-10 gallon would be more suitable for them.

@alexandre They're really friendly, and tolerate people a lot better than some geckos. I haven't had other species before, so I cant say they're better than others, all I know is, they're really brilliant pets, and I've never known them to be aggressive.

Hi there Miss Leo Gecko. Love your vid. But one thing i would point out is the whole point of the thermostat you have there is to maintain a constant temperature on the warm side of around about 32c (90f) covering a third of the vivarium. The rest of the tank leading away from the heat mat should gradually settle to around 24c (75f) on the cool side.
I've never heard of the timed "on/off" system with heat mats before. Not that i am in anyway suggesting this method is wrong or anything, you obviously know your stuff, it's just something i've never heard of before. I was under the impression that Leo's simply moved from warm hide to cool hide for comfort and depending on their mood, and that their viv temperatures should be kept as constant as possible. With them being cold blooded, it only takes 10-15 mins for their body temps to drop pretty low if their viv hits below 21c (70f). You can feel this whenever you handle them for a while, they get cold very quickly and it isn't ideal.
I would recommend plugging in that Thermostat and keeping a level temp gradient in your Leo's viv on a constant basis :)
