    For those who say we should build longer and bigger ships, remember that our Naval engineers know how to balance benefit-to-cost ratio. Offshore Patrol Ships have to move fast while sailing further out to sea on patrol. Their role is to look and find out who's out there but not to engage in battle if they can avoid it. It doesn't need to carry heavy armaments, only enough to defend itself. So an 83-meter patrol ship will provide a good balance of speed, patrol endurance, and sea-keeping abilities for its role.

    If only HHI can show willingness to support SRDP program of PH, probably CG variants of 107.5m Jose Rizal Class or 116m HDC-3100 can be built locally at much cheaper cost since there will be no much sensitive equipment and weaponry needed.

    A long time coming but welcome developments in Philippines building ships. The country is an archipelago so it is a wonder why only now is it going into this venture. Not only is it necessary and logical, it is in the best interest for the country and its people. Shipping should in fact be number one transport system to make interisland travel cheap and practicable. It will also link the inhabitants closely with each other of the more than 7,000 islands there is to foster brotherhood and understanding.

      The Philippines don't need bigger ships. They need ship that can go quickly in and out of the shallow waters around the islands. No need for Philippines to have a blue water navy. Having a blue water navy is expensive and we don't have logistics to do it.

    • @rainnelmaclang4803
      @rainnelmaclang4803 Před 6 měsíci +2

      Wrong. The ship's length makes it more stable, especially in deep sea operations where waves are high. A stable ship can fire its weapons with more accuracy. The ship's length also dictates its load carrying capacity, therefore, a longer ship can carry more weapons. Naval engineers balance the size of the ship according to its intended role.

    • @jdc3695
      @jdc3695 Před 6 měsíci +1

    83 meters is too short. It will be a midget compared to China coastguard ships their using in WPS. The PCG should request for at least 110 meters long Offshore vessels.

We should build not less than 120 meters ships or a patrol class cutter armed with 75mm guns auto cannon with state of the art radar and if possible fitted with CWS and NLOS missile systems. good make 3-6 year on year as philippines must bear cost for our external defense america are spending already by trillions of dollars to help global allies.so they are depletted but still strong.however philippines is a must to bolster it's defense and offense capabilities not just buying qunatity but very very quality missiles as you only have very limited time to counter attacks as missiles in other countries are mach 5 or even faster than that so every seconds count.once they hit you first your military hardwares worth billions will just become junks once hit first.do not dilly dally to bolster and buy more now so that the ship builders and missiles factory continues to create your arsenals non stop.example missiles capability stockpile must be at least by hundred of thousands stockpiles look at ukraine they always beg for missiles oneday launch can consume at least 1000 to 2000 missiles and after that they have to ask again for more missiles dont be like in that situation.even hamas can launch thousands of missiles in a day much more china they have soo much fire power so understand that little stockpile will not even harm the manmade islands as they have anti missiles batteries there .
