The reason Wolverine's hand didn't grow back was because at that point of time in comics his healing factor was no where near a strong as it is portrayed now. In the original Marvel handbooks it stated that if he got shot it would take him up to an hour to fully recover as long as it didn't hit any major organs. Over time and different writers they started making it stronger and stronger.
I always thought it didn't grow back because the adamantium melted over and cauterized the wound.
@@Rob_-_ I don't think that would have been the case, because Cyclopes' optic blast aren't heat based, they're suppose to be beams of concussive force. Also, I don't think adamantium can be melted after it's formed and stabilized. Even the Human Torch's' hottest nova flame can't melt it. Once it's formed the only way to damage it is if you affect it on the molecular level.
nope he choose to cover his hand up with that metal stuf so it couldnt grow back as a reminder to what cyclops did,if he removed that metal arm thing his hand would fully grow back.
personaly i think its stupid because he chooses to fight with a handicap on purpose.
I don’t remember that being stated in the original series, maybe it was in later stories or some kind of recon, but then again, I’m not gonna go back and read them.

It was a good and powerful trademark...the second movie I remember him having a real hammerhead infused style that's less akin to wolverine, but be honest ridiculous or not that head of hair is there to stay even after Wolverine. 😅

The Age of the Apocalypse is probably one of the best X-Men runs if not one of Marvel's best runs in the 90's.

That is exactly why Wolverine capped off his hand. It's the hidden weapon no one is expecting.
He knew the claws were there because when the fought, Weapon X had that hand. It was Cameron hodge of the Reavers that didn't know there were claws still in there, amigo.

Age of apocalypse was easily my favorite story arc in comics. I still have the foil covered comics with the crazy art, just great work all around. It was so fun to see a different timeline where different people lived, turned good or evil, and crazy desperate world
My theory for where his hand went is another world/universe. Only thinking about this since Cyclops’s beam comes from elsewhere so could be he teleported his hand.
Maybe the adamantium melted over where the hand was so it couldn’t regenerate?
No cause old man Logan regrew his hand when it got cut off by a sword , he just had a bone hand

No, he could regenerate the hand. He prevented his hand from regenerating by placing the metal cap over it. It's mentioned in the comic. These channels get it wrong so much. Nothing to with the other nonsense and conspiracy theories they come up with. He's of the lupine species no different than Romulus, Sabertooth, etc. They can regenerate their severed limbs.

His hand didn't regrow because back then, Wolverine's healing factor was just that...a healing factor. He wasn't Perfect Cell. It was only in the early 2000's and onward that Wolverine could regrow his body after a nuclear blast, or regrow organs.
When I was a kid when this came out I spent a lot of time in the hospital and this series always made me happy during those times

Back in the day when AoA was made Wolverines healing factor couldn't regrow limbs
I Recall Wolverine wearing the Cap over his hand as a reminder of his battle with Cyclops saying I took his Eye and He had nothing to show for that fight cause his hand would simply grow back. It was in one of the back story's and I cant remember which book it was in. There was way to many AOA storylines around this time but it is stated as such in one of them. He said something like a Hand for and Eye in play with and eye for an eye

This is one of my favorite storylines from 90s X-Men. The last battle where everything goes to hell and people are jumping ship is great. Loved the fool cover for the last one too.

The 'Age of Apocalypse' outfits were my favorite ones to use in X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse. They all looked so cool.

I Have a answer that makes sense on why he doesn't grow his hand back.
When Cyclops melted his hand, the adamantium on his bones fused together and prevented him from healing it, since the amputated hand is coated in adamantium.
Loved this miniseries. The fight between Wolvie and Cyke, was awesome. But, Logan, willfully capping off his hand, so it wouldn't grow back was pretty stupid.

Always thought Cyclops' blast just destroyed Wolverine's hand on some cellular level that his body just assumes there was nothing there in the first place and thus the stump.

When they created Age of Apocalypse the writers wanted Wolverine to look more battle torn so that's why they took his hand off there was literally no reason other than that.

16:14 i think the simple answer to why Wolverine's hand never grows back is because if it got shot off by a laser beam, the would probably got sealed at the same time due to extreme heat and thats why it doesnt grow back. kind of like cutting off a Hydra's head and using fire to seal the wounds so that the heads dont grow back
Hey Rob, wolverine's hand did not grow back due to his skeleton being lace with adamantium, so although he can regenerate bones to a degree (like if his hand was partially destroyed), much like Sabertooth, Wildchild, Daken, and Feral if his bones weren't lace with a metal, as shown in several comic books when a mutant of lupine abilities has had a limb or head severed (Sabertooth, Daken, Wildchild) they are unable to regrow that lost limb (with the exception of Laura Kinney "Wolverine" regenerating a jaw) as seen in the recent Wolverine "Sabertooth War" where Sabertooth and Daken had their body, limbs, and head severed, and Wildchild in Wolverine's previous "Romulus" saga. That's why in the latter mention comic book Wolverine needed his limbs reattached to heal, he couldn't regenerate new hands or grow new bone through adamantium.
no it is explained he choose to incase it in metal to prevent it from regrowing as a reminder to hate cyclops,his metal skeleton hand is stil in there it just cant regrow the flesh because its incased on metal now and even if the hand bones are taken of it can regrow as naturel bone this is shown in some comics.

I've still have the old Gold Foil trades of the AoA stories. There was something about the original AoA run that is nostalgically fantastic. Peak 90s X-Men.
But every AoA story after 1996 suuuuuucks.

I had all of the AOA comics. This, alpha, omega and all the #1's for each sub group. Never found xman #1 so got the book of the series. One w the gold cover. Age is by far my favorite story

I truly believe it's the best of all X-men stories in the (one-shot/what if?) style that still managed to affect the main timeline.
The art was amazing.

Even back when the AOA first released I never understood how Cyclops was ever able to blow off Wolverine's hand when the guy has an adamantium skeleton.
Not his ligaments, tendons or muscles. He can be blown apart.

@@marseanharper2785 Maybe you're right. I remember back in those days it didn't seem possible to do that to Wolverine (at least not 616). I just expected Cyclops to blow the flesh off his hand and he'd have a skeletal hand remaining that would regrow his flesh over time. Obviously the Ultimate universe Wolverine was famously torn in half by the Hulk which had never happened to 616 Wolverine at the time. I think it wasn't until late last year that Wendigo tore 616 Wolverine in half.
I freaking loved the AoA so much, its one of my favorite story lines, and I never knew why it got so much hate for many years. I still have the entire saga from alpha to omega and each 4 volume that unfolded to reach omega.
