I can't believe Brackeys, using Unity, is sponsored by other game engines.
“we will sponsor to not use our engine”

Probably if fans of Brackeys dont want to use unity because its difficult for them

That would then not be considered an update, but rather a replacement. In this context, such as replacing Windows with Linux :)

I always wonder how game developers can learn so many skills quickly. They have to be able to model, make art, do sound design, code (some of the time) and so much more. I'm going to university for game design and development and, honestly, having to be able to do all this is fucking terrifying. I'm certain that 3 years is not long enough to learn all this.
I try to have fun when learn something new and then I can practice and refine it. Its great to start learn some stuff now. Game jams are cool for this
They make prototypes, they use ready made models or make very simple ones so they can show their vision. Then they foundrise to hire more developers to make their game into reality. For a solo game developer making a full game is not very realistic, like minecraft was possible cause of the very simple first version. Lookup how first version of facebook looked like for example.
But we love that terrifying process😏
I know this comment it 2 years old but you don't need to learn all of this at all. You can specialize in a specific area you like programming, art, or writing, and stick to that. You will be working with a team on most instances, I wouldn't recommend being a solo developer because of the toll it takes and how counterproductive it is. However, if you want to learn multiple skills you totally can, just be aware that it is NOT necessary to learn all of these skills to be a game designer or developer. You typically specialize.

I’m at uni for game design and I’m going to a Jam this weekend for the first time. I’m only in my first year so I don’t actually know how to make a game yet, but I’m really looking forward to being in a room with people who *do* know how, as well as just being exposed to the game dev environment

I actually registered for my first game jam in July! This video is very helpful for my first time!
Game jams are definitely my favourite way to create new games! You always learn something new that you will use somewhere in the future!
Man this gets me so excited!
It's so USEFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL
This is nice, I'm really looking forward for Game Jam just wanna know how far I can go.And Brackeys your are making awesome videos.
even though i dont make games i still enjoy u making them and showing you how to make them and that is why im going to start making a game and i am going to watch all your tutorials!!!
Great video as always, thanks! 😄👍
I like this guys humor. When saying the must have, should have etc, he put o in between the letters to spell out MOSCOW. *nice*

Thank you so much for this video, Now I have better Ideas for my Programming
Literally just created my own game jam a few days ago, it's like Brackeys knew...
I wish you good luck with your game jam
Just starting using Unity, eager to be skilled enough to participate in a game jam ! :)
Why wait? Why not give it your best shot, even if the game sucks it will be experience. Save it, and then try again. Honestly if you just did weekly game jams for a year you would become a much better developer than most. Theory is not that useful, you pick up much more when you are doing projects over and over. Take it from someone who spent 10 years with theory.
Very nice guidance
Thanks you are really helpful to me
For you ❤️
I never know if i am ready for game jam as i probably would not finish my game in time cause i have so much other work and lack of skill but maybe in the future i will give it a try. It sounds fun.
Thanks again. Really keen to jam and share it as part of one of my dev logs! (Get a few more months under my belt first...)
This video is really interesting !
I'm joining the BenBonk game jam which will be my first published game. I am very excited.
I'm here to say thank you, I always tried to jump into game design, but never found some good tutorials. As I future Eletric Engineer I hope to be better at progamming as you are.
You think to much, you hope to much. Sit down and write some code, make a game. Does not matter if you dont know how, make some object move. Make something, everyday save everything so you can monitoring your progress. Stop thinking unless you are thinking about how to solve a specefic problem. Make a simulation to show the electric field calculated from the basic rules you know. Dont waste your life hoping, make it happen.
Awsome video dude
I have the same Guitar Hero shirt as you ^^ Rock the block! 🤘

The worst part about game jams is that they often jam your brain.

GAME JAMS ARE HARD. YOU GET A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME TO MAKE A GAME BASED ON A GIVEN *THEME* .

YESSS A NEW VIDEO
Haven't done a Game Jam yet. I definitely want to give it a go, though. Looks terrifyingly fun.
I tried Core, it is interesting, but not a game engine.
it looked similar to roblox studio. it's like in beetween. the best things about them is multiplayer comes easy.
I'm seeing this whole "planning" phenomenon you're talking about while already 3 days into your Jam. I can confirm, that I did not do any planning other than "I think this idea fits the theme". Will get back to you with how I go.
I just started making games in untiy because of you Brackey, thanks a lot!
You are still the best for me!
I am so inspired AAAAAAAAAA!
Brackeys talking about game jams and wearing a BlackThornProd-made Brackeys shirt makes me feel happy.
The best way to game jam is not to sleep during submissions before you submitted your entry 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I also want to throw in Parsec if you want to playtest with your teammates in local multiplayer, but for some reason you can't meet up. It's also good for screen sharing and remote help.
Hey Brackeys, great video. I have actually participated in LD46 as my first jam. my game is "kill the undead"
I have a game jam in a hour and this my friend

its funny, because im currently planning to join your game jam!
Hey Brackeys this was GREAT In my opinion! Could you maybe do a video on 3d animation or something, would mean alot!
6:19 Ctrl + A, Delete that desktop. Please.
Hey dude, your videos are so super helpful. Have you ever considered doing another engine? You're such a unique and shining beacon of guidance in the game dev world, and I think you could get some great response with basic tutorials in like unreal or cryengine too! Maybe convert some of your early tutorials into those engines. Either way, keep up the good work.
Awesome video

I had it today where I had the problem that I couldnt figure out how to drag an object across the screen with the mouse.

Hey there,
im pretty new to Game Development. Im studying applied computer science, which makes me comfortable about the programming. Works great so far. Problem im having: Im no Artist. Do you have any advices on 3D Character Creation and Animation or should I use free assets/later on paid assets?
I just started learning Unity this year. I'm thinking whether to join or not🤔
New Video YEAH !
Please show some game dev stuff, you are only person I can understand easily

When you learned coding in unity, did you learn it by trial and errors, or did you use any videos, articels, etc?

Nice hair man 👌
Nice vid if it came out before ld 46 it would have been amazing!

Game Jams sound like fun. I wish I can participate.
Hi! This will be a little hard to explain. On 2D platformer, when I move sometimes I get something like a render line that moves from top to bottom and above line everything is moved few pixels left or right. The fun is that happens only on my laptop display buy not on led display that is connected to laptop. I dont know if you understand it but lets say it looks like a glitch.
Would have been nice to have this before the last day of the game jam I joined :P
Hey, thank you for a great movie! ... Quick question about source control - you prefer GitHub over Unity Collaborate - if yes/no - why?
Do you have time to make rigidbody fps contoller?
