I worked at Carson Pirie Scott at the Fashion Fair counter in 2001-2005. This really brings back memories.

Self hatred is taught. Black people as individuals must learn to love their self no matter what color their skin tone may be. We know we come in many shades.

This John Johnson was a media mogul and publisher. He published Ebony Jet magazines out of Chicago. Starting in the mid-1950s he developed a media empire that included a radio station in addition to several magazines for Black Americans. His wife was also active in the fashion and beauty industry from the 1950s on for Black women. He was a very successful man and is considered a Chicago business icon/legend.

I'm a white man that grew up in suppressed situations and I have incredible respect for this man who worked so hard against oppostion and never wanted a handout to rise above and become a great and successful businessman. It pains me to say that on my lunch breaks I sometimes walk past the side and front of the Johnson Publishing building at 1200 S. Michingan Avenue and on 2 occasions I witnessed African American homeless men apparently urinating on the Johnson Publishing building. It almost made me want to throw up.

Black People don’t want handouts. I don’t understand why whites believe they do.
