I'm interested in doing this technique with different colors. Drop me some suggestions and I might use your color combo!
My favorite color combo is fuchsia pink and tangerine orange. I think that combo would look great with that technique. Turquoise and teal with some light greens and blues sound nice as well. But Pink and Orange are my first choice.
Saw a magazine page with a room done in gray and yellow. Normally, neither one of those is my color, but I liked it so much I cut out the page, and plan to use it in a quilt someday. Best.
I love the finish! It’s a nice clean color but still has some interest, great job! 💚
I absolutely love this finish!! Great job!! Also, I really like the open center.. it will allow for blankets, pictures, trinkets etc.. people love that shit lol. I think it worked out well even though it wasn’t what you wanted ☺️
Some might call it lazy. I call it being frustrated after nearly being done lol. Could I have fixed the door? Yes. Would it have taken another 2 hours? Yes. Someone will have stuff they want to put there, like you said. Thanks for checking in!
@@ThatShabbyGuy definitely not lazy.. your work ethic is always clear to me. I felt the frustration.. I just had a piece that I got 95% done - then had some finish issues and we’ve been on an extended break ever since 🤦🏻♀️ I’m most likely going to toss it.
I love the way this turned out.
Good tutorial on how things can change as you work on a piece ! Don't forget to smile at the camera and show off that new smile! Thanks buddy.
A great job on your project ❤️👍🌹
Thankyou for sharing this technique. I love the dry brush look. Your tutorial was really good!!!!
It turned out alright. I barely noticed the thing you were worried about but those socks!
What a beautiful work! Thank you for showing all the detail that went into it. 👏👏👏
Pancake syrup?! You took the words right outta my mouth!!!!
Are you sure this thing didn't belong to you at some point? 🤔
Nice to see you again
You too!
Hey, I’m so glad to find your videos again! The buffet turned out fantastic! Happy summer!🌞
Beautiful transformation....and Way to go with The punches ..you just rolled with it and it paid off🥰👍
BEAUTIFUL!!! You are the man!!
You and this piece went through a transformation.... good job bruuutha
Transformation reminds me of how maple syrup is made.
Yeah I had to chop the hair off. We were unexpectedly house hunting and I couldnt be going in looking like Furniture Jesus lol
Yes about time shabby man 🙏❤️
I like the opening. good job.
Nice nice job. Impressive. I love it
Beautiful work. Turned out amazing. Good to see you. Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family. 😃
I love this technique!! I hope to one day be able to do this! I'm just beginning to learn paint furniture and you are one of my fav's!! Thank you for sharing with us!! This piece looks amazing!!
Thanks for the help! I’m doing a Matte black base coat and a barn red on top on an old dresser! Excited to try this technique!
"I use my dolly to carefully move it without damaging anything."
A bunch of drawers fall out. 😂
You're an artist. I actually think it looks more updated without the doors. Whoever owns it could put a basket in the middle or a cool piece of decor/art. I just love your work and your channel. I know I'm late to the game here, but hadn't seen your channel pop up in my feed for quite a while. CZcams does that.
So charming that you showed yourself trying to move it and the drawers flying off. That piece looks incredible. We live in the prairie in the States and there are a lot of old barns in this area. So romantic and yet a bit tragic at the same time. Kind of like your piece! 😉 Really love it. OMG those spiders!! Just found you so it will be fun to binge.
The country look is my favorite. This piece turned out great. Miss these videos of yours.
Thank you so much!
Love this as it reminds me of the Scandinavian faux wood finish. Removing the doors give it a more modern look.
A great job beautiful work ❤️👍🇺🇸
Thank you!
I'm still watching your video BUT I've learned over the many years of furniture ..Green Cancels Out Red/orange ..So Even If you Have a color that Has Some hue of Green family Will totally work for a Wash before you do White paint or White wash ..hope this helps someone..okay back to the video 🥰👍
Dude, you are shab chic! Excellent blending 👍
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Love this video. Amazing job. I can’t wait to try this
Loved the look. I really liked without the doors. Great job!!!
Great job on this one, I like it without the doors.
I love the pieces you do. Very nice.

That is a great job, well done, friend!
I love it!
Looks amazing ❤!
love it👏👏
Hi Shabby Guy! This turned out so nice! Like the open area better anyways! Nice dry brushing as well!
Thank you Nancy!
Turned out awesome. Going to give this technique a try!
Great stuff sir! Simply Explained. Thank you. I'm about to start my furniture refinishing journey.
Thanks! Good luck to you!
@@ThatShabbyGuy hey what kind of paint sprayer do you use?
Garcon Magnum x5 or Graco project painter plus. The X5 has a bit better pressure.
@@ThatShabbyGuy Thanks!
Nice
Yeah the doors made me mad too breakin like that 😁
Haha what a coincidence…. Pancake syrup in it ! 😂
I like it better with the open center...
👍
Hello. Why didnt u use a shellac primer vs the lacquer u used here? Would it be ok to use for this effect as well?
Shellac and lacquer are pretty much the same thing so you can use them interchangeably
You are so inspiring I want to start doing my own DIY I’m hoping to try it on the weekend wish me luck I’m looking for something that is blue and I like the dry brush method. But I know that some paints are very expensive I was looking at the Dixie Belle and they’re outrageous I live in Canada. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you
Do you mostly use latex paint on your projects? I heard chalk paint is the best for furniture, and latex had a lot of problems when it comes to furniture.. but I’ve seen it both ways? Is it just a preference?
Yes, I've used latex paints for 10 years. I tend to use them because I use a sprayer that needs the hose set into a gallon of paint and also has a lot of overspray, making $30 1 quart chalk paints less feasible for my workflow. As far as durability goes, there isnt a difference as long as you prep right. Do chalk painters still sand their pieces? Yes, some. Especially those who sell long term. I've fixed and addressed countless questions as to why their chalk painted piece was chipping and it is often because of poor prep. Chalk paint is simply latex paint with powdered chalk in it, which (some claim) allows the paint to bond better to the paint (so no sanding needed). The chalk also creates a thicker medium that can be moved around differently than thinner latex paint. Is it innovative and special in its own right? No. Is it still a great product?
Another thing to consider is how cultish chalk paint brands can be. Some people love chalk paint (and similar paints) so much that it is THE best and they will tell everyone about it. Anyone who disagrees doesnt know how to paint furniture. It is a really strange thing that happens to mostly new people in the furniture painting niche. As you can see by the length of this reply, it is a lengthy and touchy subject to some people. I know of an instance where a CZcamsr gave their honest opinion of a brand and their "fans" ganged up on his channel and social media, his business, leaving negative reviews (illegal) and the owner(s) of the company joined in on it. I can also tell you that there are several brands that act like this so... enjoy the paints you like but avoid "the cult" if you can.
The short answer to your question: Yes. It is preference. But don't let other people tell you what is best. Try things yourself. This is my advice to anyone asking what the best paint is. I use several brands from time to time just to show other people but I will never buy just one paint brand or one type of paint and call it "the best".
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I rather like it without the doors. It makes it look less Early American style & more modern Country Chic.
