Is the Nikon Z6II Still Good for Video in 2024? | Frankfurt at Dusk | Atomos Ninja V+ | Prores & Raw

Yes, the video capabilities of the Nikon Z6II are still sufficient when paired with an external recorder. Nikon's color science provides a solid foundation, making it possible to achieve great colors in post-production, even though blue hues can sometimes be oversaturated. However, the camera does have its drawbacks. In low light, the detailed highlights can flicker, recording in 10-bit externally causes a crop, there's no 4K 60FPS option for external recording, and the combined weight of the external recorder and cage can be quite a workout. Overall, in 2024, a lightweight camera capable of recording 4K 10-bit internally would be more suitable for me. Nonetheless, I still love the Z6II. It's been a reliable companion, traveling with me to many countries and completing numerous commercial shoots.
