  • The John Deere 2520 and John Deere 2025r tractors are quite similar in many ways. You'll see a comparison of the tractors themselves, front end loaders including models 200cx, H130, and 220r, and the 62" drive over mower decks. Operator stations remain quite similar as well. A couple of the key differences can be found under the hood and with the rear tire sizes. Watch the video and find out more!

Have the 2520 for several years. Biggest and only complaint I have is lack of suspension seat. Even my previous 855 had some suspension on the seat.

the loader frame mounts are the same on 2012 jd 2520 for the 200cx and 220r loaders

I'd like to find out what ball joint John dear uses on 2520 steering cylinder instead of buying the whole cylinder.

Good Works Tractors , is the lifting power the same on both tractors? I own the 2520 and im having trouble finding the spec on what the hydraulic pressure is suppose to be ? if its on the low end of spec i wanna turn it up. wondering if i find spec on 2025 if it the same?

On the specs it looks like the 2520 has a LOT more hydrolic flow then the older 2025r's. Almost double. Any chance you notice that difference when using them?

Hi Nick, As a 2520 owner and a 2025r user...a good friend has the 2025r, the 2520 hydraulics are much faster and the engine can be used at lower RPM's when working, you need the RPM's on the 2025r for the hydraulics. You can check us out on CZcams at JD Toys where we use the tractors together.
If you end up purchasing a 2017 or older 2025r, which is basically a 2320 with different decals, make sure you keep the u joint at the front of the driveshaft greased...if not failure could occur around at 600 hours give or take! It is hard to get to but, do not neglect it! Tractor Time With Tim talks about greasing this on his 1025r. John Deere offset the driveshaft to allow for a flatter floor at the operator station. The 2520, 2720, 2032 and 2038 did not have this problem because the driveshaft is straight but, you have the raised area between your feet.
Courtney, I really enjoy your video's and the work you do at Good Works Tractors! Blessings!

Does 2520 have the DEF or was before DEF

Hi, I'm looking at buying a 2520 without the loader. By looking at your video it seems like I could buy an H130 loader for the 2520 rather than the 200cx. Is it worth the hassle of buying one of these tractors without the loader?

    • @GoodWorksTractors

It can be very hard to find used loaders. Perhaps you plan to buy a new loader? The H130 should mount up fine, as I did that quite a bit in the past. Worth double checking with the dealer, but many of them don't have a clue anyways.

Thanks, yeah! I’m looking for a new loader if that exist for this model.

Looks like, if I trade my JD 2520 for a 2520R, I'd take a step down???? Smaller rear wheel diameter, less HP, and no deck rubber mat. As far as deck height the 2520 has the lift arm which works great, So, do I you gain anything besides new emissions improvement???
As much as I care deeply about our environment, I have only put 300 hours on my 2520 over the last decade. I suspect what slightly higher emissions from my unit are negligible.
