- Norm builds an armoire that is based on classic designs and can double as an entertainment center. It has raised panel doors and is constructed of veneer plywood. He demonstrates many joinery techniques such as dado, dovetail, and mortise and tenon joints. He also uses a shaper to create molding.

Yes this series is dated, but his craftsmanship stills is just as fresh today as it was when these were made, Norm showed many of us each week to plan out our work and to be safe.
I was an accomplished woodworker when these came out and still made it a point to watch as many as I could and have built many of his projects, his style of teaching is very refreshing and I still enjoy to see his work and I'm very happy to see that the shows have been released for many more years of viewing and that generations of woodworkers can enjoy and learn from. Thank You Norm !!

I bought the plans and made this project shortly after this video came out. I literally dismantled it about 6 month ago and repurposed the wood. It housed my 25" TV for quite some time. After that it stored clothes in my son's room. After he grew up and moved out it lived he didn't want it and it was just too large to be practical.
Retro enthusiasts can now make use of this project!
Today it could still hold one hell of a stereo system setup, it could be a dedicated cabinet for the audio equipment as well as the Blu-ray player, the cable box, or even game consoles.

I have a cousin who's husband is a dead ringer for Norm. Glasses, Beard, hair color and all. He even wears the jeans and plaid shirts like Norm. Kinda spooky!
I love how Norm can draw freehand angles and they are pretty much dead on when he cuts them.
Norms a talented guy too bad we don't hear from him anymore.

Well, we do have a quality project here, even if a modern flat screen TV would never fit.
We all have to remember that every one of these shows is about 30 years old, and still captivating.
GK is correct, and Mr. Morash even has a short video telling you what GK says (introducing the You Tube series.;-)
Can always make it wider.

Delta green-gray and Porter Cable gray power tools along with biscuit joinery - no yellow, red or orange power tools… classic Norm. Was that a Makita blue-green I saw? Thank you Norm for the memories.
He said it was a clockwise bit and changed directions. But if he'd just flipped it and the work piece. No need to change direction.
That armoire is very handsome, though its television would have been a chunky CRT, one and in my den would have the shelf for my CDs and disc storage. My video tapes are long-gone.

This one is a tad obsolete. We used an entertainment center for years by placing a flat screen TV that happened to fit with a bunch of empty space behind it. Eventually we upgraded to one that hangs on the wall. Streaming got rid of the DVD player. I broke it down and burned it in our fire pit. One last night of entertainment.
I still have my Blu-ray and a VCR. I still buy DVDs and Blu-ray. Sure steaming is great until the service doesn't renew the license for what you're watching. Even if you buy it, when the company's license expires it's pulled from the available videos.
