@@Heresjonnyagain I have heard it used as an abstract reference to his conquering of the devil during his martyrdom, I just like the story, and the title given him, idk if its actually a true story. He is also my pateron saint, so I love to give him long titles XD

This song was probably composed by Eugène-Jacques Regrettier. It was published in 1946. Therefore it is a scout song, not a medieval one, though the theme of the song is about a medieval saint :)
@@unoptoono7803 It would be written in the 1700's with difficulty. In France, Medieval era was only digged up in the mid 1800's until second 1900's half. Before that, it was hard to find people fond of medieval things, times being to the "enlightment".
My personnal researches lead me to mid 1900's for the first publication. Would be curious to see the sources of wikipedia.

@@seamuswbiggerarmalite3379 Beside the fact 1200 and 1300 are in the medieval times, Saint Georges who lived around 300 only became popular in France after Clovis 1er, and his cult only spread with Saint Germain actions in 576. Thus he is a medieval saint. He also is patron saint of England since 800 (in the medieval times).
