The year 1987, you get homefrom school, you go to your local convience store, you spot a new arcade, the music captures your attention, you walk over , your eyes are hipnotozed without thinking you pop in a quarter and the world passes you by .

Damn straight man, too bad the generation nowadays won't be able to experience things like this since arcades aren't around anymore!!

I used to go to Barry island every weekend with my dad and put 10p after 10p into this game until I completed it! Good times… ❤

Take me back of those days. Internet gaming will never compare to 80s and 90s video games and arcades.

My brother Demond and I played Double Dragon all the time when we were kids! One of our favorite games!

Never heard this through proper speakers before. In fact, I had to strain to hear it in the bowling alley where I first stood mesmerized all those years ago. With the bass kicking, though, the digital prog masterpiece is revealed in all its glory! Yamane Kazunaka is a freakin' genius!!!

Listening bsck to this on jabra earbuds ,I'd forgotten (and quite possibly didn't hear way back when in the arcades) about the level of sub bass in parts of the soundtrack.
It's also fascinating that there was a whole 6 year (ish) period where FM synthesis was de rigeur in arcade game soundtracks. They were YM chips and were multitmbral, so you could have 6 part arrangements and beyond, depending on other chip configurations (i.e custom speech, sample player for drums etc, where FM wasn't the greatest)on the boards. Once the cost of memory dropped, then mpst soundtracks tended tp be based around higher resolution samples, doing away the need for FM altogether.
    Thank you for sharing 👍

Everybody knows that this game is legendary and soundtrack is probably even more legendary, not kid ourselves on the instrumentation of this soundtrack. It’s pretty crude and harsh along with being quite abrasive but it has its charm. Thanks for sharing.

my dad used to fix arcades. so we owned double dragon. if you opened the coin box and held down the little lever that gets triggered when a coin goes through you can freeze the game but not the music. i used to do that all the time to hear 6:10 that harmonizing thing was so cool.
