    The guys were thrilled to post the air dates (Feb 20-24) and times that 'The Country Network' channel will be featuring this song. Glad to see them getting more exposure.
    Home Free also teamed up with Texas Hill one of their 'Dreamer' videos. (HThey also has a version of that song honoring the legends of the Grand Ole Opry.) In the concert video, Rob, as here, is the featured singer. Perhaps because his sweet tenor is such a nice complement to the 'grittiness' of TH.

    This is so boppy and fun. There's a video from the Ryman of these 2 groups doing Dreamer which is great. Definitely worth it.

    They absolutely deserves to be on the radio.

    TH did lose a member recently. Don't know if we'll ever know the full story but the member who left said he was voted out.
    In a recent interview, Austin said a couple of songs on the new album are getting a decent amount of play on Australian radio. Clearly more intelligent than our radio ;-)

    This is so good. Tim and Adam Wakefield (pianist) wrote this. Texas Hill had 3 members but apparently those two asked the 3rd member to drop out ( maybe he didn’t want to tour as much?). Anyway, we heard they are having 3 more new members join so they will be a band of 5 soon. Yes, they need to be on the radio. HF’s new songs are so good.

    I always enjoy your reactions because sometimes I think you may not like a song, but then change my mind right before the song starts. I realize you’ve been a fan since you and your brother were recording reactions together. Texas Hill and Home Free are such a pleasure and so much fun to listen to and watch.

    A happy song that makes me swing and sing. A song that will stay in my head for a while. Nice combination of the voices of Adam Wakefield and Rob, the perfect voices for this one. Another great collaboration from Home Free and Texas Hill.

    Craig Wayne Boyd recently left Texas Hill to return to a solo career before this was recorded, but Texas Hill still sounded great in this with just the two present members joined by HF. Texas Hill has added three new members since and is now a 5 member band.

    • @patriciamcl54
      @patriciamcl54 Před rokem

      CWB's "return to a solo career" was not planned or expected by him, or even desired. There seem to have been personal differences which led to the other two ousting him. Tim is on the side of his friend and writing partner Adam Wakefield and everyone else is following the party line.

    My only complaint ever on HF songs is too short ;-)
    Maybe if enough of us make the suggestion they can have the shorter version for the album and an "extended cut" for the video with another verse or break down or whatever.
    Always enjoy your reactions, thanks.

    I love this song & video; however, if you want break-up songs, watch Home Free's "Love Me Like That" & "Lonely Girls World" both written by Austin after a hard break-up or (on Austin's channel) "If I Met You Now". Both Austin & Tim are song writers (and both play piano). All of them (with the exception of Adam Rupp) have their own channels.

      Doomed to failure. There are very few independent radio stations left in the US, most belong to media conglomerates and their play lists are controlled by record labels. University stations are the exception but are not usually very hot on country. (Information from a friend in the US).

    I don't know where you heard about any song-writing classes but that definitely was not the case for Tim or Austin.

    @patriciamcl54 Před rokem +3

    Austin at least has been writing songs for many years without the need for any "classes", and Tim used to write songs for a living. I don't know where you heard that they had been receiving instruction - this is the first I've heard of it, and I can't imagine either of them being ready to take advice on something they have previously shown themselves to be very good at. What spurred the writing for "So Long Dixie" was quite simply lockdown. Most of the "new" songs were written some time ago. Both Tim and Austin have regular trusted writing partners (the spirit of Jeffrey East hovers over the album) and no writing credits have been noted for anyone they haven't worked with before.
    I suppose this is OK. It's catchy. For me, it's just too country to be very interesting. A friend of mine, who is not a Home Free devotee, commented after I'd asked him to listen to "So Long Dixie" that it was very uneven in tone and style, though uniform in vocal excellence. "There's all this country stuff trying to be something more, and then there's this contemporary adult pop/rock," he said. "At a guess, there are two main song ideas men in the band, they don't work together and they're producing songs for different markets." I think he was right and it remains to be seen whether Home Free will ever in its originals be able to find a unified path. I've said before that declaring themselves to be country back in 2013 may have won them the Sing Off but has dogged them ever since. They 're too country for the mainstream radio stations (even if the stations weren't totally controlled by larger interests) but not pure country enough to get much airtime on the country stations.
    I see there's a Sea Shanty Remix just come out, which should at least be fun.

    • @chrismorin1318
      @chrismorin1318 Před rokem +1

      If I had to guess, my opinion would be more along the lines of Tim & Austin teaching a songwriting class rather than attending one. But I've definitely been wrong before. 🤦‍♀️🤣

    • @patriciamcl54
      @patriciamcl54 Před rokem

      @@chrismorin1318 I'd agree with you on that, though i still think we would have heard something about it. Possibly BTC misunderstood a comment about the Nashville method of bringing ideas to the table and seeing if anyone else wants to run with it.

    • @patriciamcl54
      @patriciamcl54 Před rokem

      You want break-up songs? Check out the channel of Mr Austin Brown, master of the miserable song that still sounds gorgeous. Try his original, the haunting If I Met You Now, and his cover of Neon Moon. This last is in the opinion of most an improvement on the original by Brooks and Dunne. Austin is beautifully assisted by Chris Chatham and Sebi Douyon and if you can listen to the third verse without a tear, you have a harder heart than us Fries.

    Nobody who understands what Home Free does can possibly NOT believe in love! Maybe you just had too much mushy stuff in your ears lately. Austin has written a sad song or two, if you really need a break, and Chance "can't outrun" a lost love. Meanwhile, I enjoy your entertaining reactions!
