I was working in budapest in 2011 and went many times to a nightclub in central budapest. All the doormen were ferencvaros ultras. They are to this day the biggest toughest men i have ever seen. The fast food outlets on the street had no money to pay for security so the ultras would come over from the club to help break someone’s nose with 1 punch if needed. Old skool doormen. One punch and goodnight vienna !
these are true football fans, not plastic Barcelona, Chelsea, Atleti/Real Madrid. These fans don't care if their teams are the best. These people love their club.

As a Ferencváros fan, I'd like to thank you for putting out this high-quality video in terms of research, meeting up with the fans from both sides, and ofc beautiful pictures of Budapest are always welcome :)
As for the derby, the Hungarian FA is absolutely clueless, they want even the simple supporters to be gone from the stadiums. You should have came last year though, when there was no boycott, I'll never forget the last two Fradi - Újpest derby for the rest of my life.

The atmosphere of this derby is unique. It's worthy to watch such a match on the spot, in the stadium.

Going to Budapest for my 35th birthday on 21st Feb, looks like like a top city!
Regarding derbies, I went to the Paris FC v Red Star derby a couple of years ago. Oddly enough, the atmosphere was excellent despite a crowd of only ~9,000 at Charlety stadium. The year before it nearly kicked off in the cafe we were drinking in with Red Star trying to attack us.
Would it be worth a Copa 90 episode? Debatable.

If you are walking across Budapest, you probably can see stickers or signs of other foreign teams, especially near to the bigger stadiums or in the metro stations. Once they played in one of the stadiums in Budapest and their fans left some stickers there😁

i love the passion of the ultras, i don't get the violence......there is a lot of violence on the world we dont need more violence for dumb reasons like football (yes, it is a dumb reason, i love football by the way but it is a dumb reason to beat up other person)

Precisely this, Monty. This sort of thing compartmentalizes, segregates violence that would otherwise manifest in other, probably more harmful ways.
I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, home of the Fiesta de Santa Fe, the oldest civic celebration in the United States. Always seemed to me that the the relatively hands off approach to the celebrations by law enforcement, at least in the 70s/80s (no idea what it’s like now) was kind of like not pushing the steam relief valve down on a pressure cooker... As long as folks didn’t harm “innocents”, all seemed well.
There are some who need to fight. Best they do it among themselves than take it out on their kids/partners/neighbors.
That’s my two cents. Certainly don’t condone violence, but it does indeed seem to happen. Keep it among people who have the bloodlust, I say.

You should go to Kraków in Poland for the "Great Kraków Derby" Cracovia vs Wisła Kraków. They are since 1906 when the clubs were created and are very hot. It is a real war against Wisła ultras called Sharks and Cracovia's called Jude Gang. This is also connected with drugs so in some places it can be very dangerous due to knives and machete
